Speaking of suicide so much, a few of us NSers got together and decided to make a place you can talk to people if you're feeling like you want to die.

Anyone who's an op or a voice in there right now has been through times that they wanted to die, so we know what it's like.

We made a channel on QuakeNet (irc.quakenet.org) called #stopping_suicide. Feel free to come on in and talk with us about anything you want ^_^ particularly if you're feeling down.

Edit: We also now have a channel of the same name on NationStates' home IRC server of EsperNet (irc.esper.net). Hop on in to #stopping_suicide if you're around.

If you're unsure how to use IRC, you can learn about it here:

We need a bit of help keeping people to talk to in the channels (some of us have to sleep!). If you, or anyone you know, would be interested in helping us out, please drop in and talk to an Op! Really, you're not helping us, but whoever out there finds our channels and need someone to talk to.

Just make a post in moderation asking them to do it, or go to #themodcave on IRC (server is in a stickied thread), and they'll get onto it. :)

Most of the NationStates-related IRC channels are already on irc.esper.net. For example, #nationstates_general, #nationstates_technical, #nationstates, and so on. Thus, if NationStates is your target audience, then you should consider relocating to EsperNet, as this would make it easier for IRC beginners who just figured out how to connect to the NationStates channels on EsperNet to easily get to your channel.

My suggestion is retracted if the scope of your services extends significantly beyond the NationStates community.

Sound advice, Cogitation. Thanks ^_^. Since it's my hope to be there for people outside of Nation States as well, I've actually just made #stopping_suicide on irc.esper.net an addition. Granted, there's no way to synch them or anything, but who says I can't be on two servers at once? Tee-hee!

In any case, #stopping_suicide is now open and registered on both QuakeNet and EsperNet.
