Since depression threads are popular...

... I might as well tell my story.

Some of you who RP with me may know me as one of the funniest RPers. I think. That or an annoying person. Anyway, since everybody wants to offer solutions on how to cure depression, I might as well say my opinion. Everybody says "Do therapy" or "Do medicine" and from I've read, it doesn't work. Well good sirs and madams, I think I might've found the ultimate solution to depression:

JESUS!

Ah yes, I know the General Forum hates Jesus, but humor me. Anyway two days ago (yes two days) I went to this Christian youth group thing. I came in angry, lost, sad, trying to find a purpose in life. The speaker, about two years older then me, just moved me. So I accepted Jesus.

And man did I cry. But as I cried my anger just went away, all of my sadness. Gone. Now all of a sudden I can't stop smiling, I am actually HAPPY for waking up, I hug my brother (who I hated) everyday and just kiss him. I pray to God for everything he's done and I glorify Him. Plus I'm reading my Bible more. Of course it's only been two days and I can't tell the future. But maybe I can change one heart, that's enough for me.

Anyway now I prepare for the liberal backlash. I just hope I inspired someone, if not. I'm just a waste of broadband. :p

(And yes I'm gonna change my sig now :P)

i say you don't need Jesus to change your ways like that. i'm slowly learning the same sort of thing, just without the religion. its more like a personal philosophy, but its working! (thus far...)

As far as I can tell, Jesus saved my life.

I'm not about to become a christian, though. I just have a special fondness for him. He's joined my list of deities I like especially (after the Goddess and Pan)

Music saved me from being a horrible wreck of depressed human flesh, and it continues to do so.

I've never needed religion, and I never will.

Peter Pan or Pan Spray?

(Ba dum cha)

PAN came out of the woods one day,—
His skin and his hair and his eyes were gray,
The gray of the moss of walls were they,—
And stood in the sun and looked his fill
At wooded valley and wooded hill. 5

He stood in the zephyr, pipes in hand,
On a height of naked pasture land;
In all the country he did command
He saw no smoke and he saw no roof.
That was well! and he stamped a hoof.

Obviously, Markreich endorses the Book of Mark, the oldest and probably least read of the four prophets.

That said, I want to draw attention to Mark, 14:25:
"Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God."

Now, obviously... Jesus tells us that they have wine in heaven. We have the recipie here on Earth. Bring up that one next time a "born again" gets uppity about alcohol. ;)

I don't know why a born again would complain about wine when Jesus' first miracle was turning water into wine :P

Don't get drunk though ;)

*snip* And man did I cry. But as I cried my anger just went away, all of my sadness. Gone. Now all of a sudden I can't stop smiling, I am actually HAPPY for waking up
I have long been aware of how much better crying can make you feel. Whenever I'm feeling down, it's one of the first things I try to do. It really can relieve a lot of inner pain.

I think too many men feel that crying isn't a "manly" thing to do, and hold their sadness and pain inside where it eats them from the inside out. This is a real tragedy, and one of the few advantages a lot of women have over men (that they can express their feelings like that).

Why? :D

Because you'll wake up next to a fat lady with a native American chanting strange things and an Irishman singing old folk songs about his Johnny boy while some other dude records this saying that the chick is hot.

Unless you're into that.

I'm one of the men who can cry... Fuck, I used to do it fairly often. Bad days at school...

The whole thing about men not feeling right to cry is the way they're raised. My dad didn't really raise me (he's one of the parents who tells you what and what not to do, rather than talking and doing things), so I never had the "not being able to cry" problem.

wow. me three. i listen to music probably an hour or two a day. we have two rock stations on the radio here and I usually switch between them constantly so I won't miss any good songs. I wish I didn't because it doesnt really get much accomplished, but there's so little to do that I find worth doing anyways so I keep listening.

If you don't want to do that and you feel really crap NOW please contact me I have personal and professional experience with depression and I will listen what ever your background age or beliefs. I do not want anyone to go through this alone or think they are alone many of us are here and we will listen not judge and understand. Telegram me at Nead Scioda and we will find a way to communicate confidentially.
