i dont get why any one posts anything on "controversial" posts. a lot of angry people and a few goofballs line up on sides and disagree with the other party. no one really ever changes anyones mind. why dont we just stick to normal, ns things like rps and lists.

no one is gonna change the world on one of these debates. get over it

Whoever said debating was all about changing the other side's mind?

I find it a stress releaver if i'm tense. I must admit I am suseptable to the more trivial sortof thread. I have never done any RP'ing, it seems a little too intense for my personal tastes

sometimes debating is fun. most of the time i'm not in the mood, though, and just want to socialise and post mindless drivel. or be entertained in some way.

Debating is good, sometimes. It keeps your brain in motion and allows you to see all sides of an issue. I think if debating wasn't a part of this forum (or maybe any forum) - it would get a little boring here. I don't participate all that much but I do enjoy reading all the views.

Debating in forums can be fun, but not when people write lengthy responses with big words in them; thats when it gets annoying.

Same here. I debate from time to time, but I've pretty much gotten tired of it. I debated far too much on the old PC Gamer forums.

Actually, I've been convinced a couple of times. I'm open to logic and reason, and I try to keep cool in a debate. I rather enjoy a good debate.

i suppose it just seems to get old real fast though
plus, if u have something like 6,000 posts, u need to get outside

Funny.

I know lots of people who get drunk every weekend.

To me, they waste a whole big chunk of their lives... sicne they get nothing 'productive' from all the falling-over and vomiting... and end up much poorer by the next payday.

To them, perhaps I waste a big chunk of my life with my learning foreign languages, and researching histories, and debating on a forum?

I guess it's a matter of perspective, no?

I fundamentally disagree with Neo. He's a commie and hates Jews.

...

Uh, anyway, intellectual debate massages the brain! It increases one's ability in rhetoric and critical analysis. How could you NOT like it?

Plus you get to mock people without fear of retribution. ++good
