Question for the guys...

Dakini

Do you ever invite a girl to an event (say, a poker game, a group outing) to breeak up a "sauceage fest"? (i.e. to not feel weird about just hanging out with guys) Like, you normally wouldn't invite such a person, except that it would otherwise be an all-male event? Or for eye candy purposes, for that matter.

I want honest answers and to that extent, I'm putting up a poll so you can answer anonymously and not comment.

... yes, I know this is a stupid question... if you want an explanation of why I'm asking it go ahead.

Err.. Strippers are usually invited to those kinds of things. So yes.

Or a really stupid chick, to laugh at. (Though this is rare).

I'm not a girl, but I really don't care so I voted for the fourth option. What I mean is I'd invite a girl to a poker game with the guys if I thought that she'd be interested in it and if the guys wouldn't object. I'm quite secure in my sexuality. Enough that I'm not paranoid over the thought of someone thinking that my weekly poker games are actually a flimsy cover story for passionate orgies with the guys.

May I ask why you're asking? That might help give a better answer. You seem pretty concerned.

Err.. Strippers are usually invited to those kinds of things. So yes.

I didn't think of that. Good point!

nope. don't really care if an event is a saussage-fest or not. i'm not gay or anything, i just don't care

as for eye candy... i subscribe (in part...when it suits me ;) ) to Kantian Ethics, so that would be wrong :)

I ask because my bf thinks I keep getting invited to poker games with some friends because they're all guys and I'm a girl and apparantly guys enjoy having eye candy.

Thus, he gets pissy because he thinks I'm going to run off with someone else or something stupid like that. Apparantly I shouldn't go out in public lest someone try to make a move on me... I mean, let's totally ignore the fact that I can turn people down.

strange. your boyfriend sounds immature. i am female, and have had the same five male best friends for 22 years now.i am the only girl at the bachelor parties, the card games, the house hangouts, etc. however, some young girls think this is cool, and then try it themselves, and the inner attention whore comes out. if you find yourself innwardly feeling jealous that all eyes arent on you, then its time to stay home.

Hmm. Most of the girls I've dated are good at poker. And Cheat. But mostly Poker, so it turns into a "Get beaten by a single girl at Poker-Fest".

My friends and I usually make sure its not a sasuage fest. So, we always have 5 or more girls around when we hang out. This is partly because we like hanging out with the girls, partly so the girls don't get lonely, and partly cause we like our eye candy.

Not for eye candy, no. However, alot of my female friends play cards, so most likely they'd be at a poker game anyway! :p

well. i can also say i have seen other guys' girlfriends do some pretty lets say "irresponsible " shit when the guy is not around. but do guys want eye candy ata poker game? if they arent serious players, you are getting used, my friend. (this is where you ponder your flirting habits) if they are serious players, and you suck at poker, they just want some action. dont beleive for a second they want to teach you the game. why isnt your boyfriend invited?

A couple of times I've invited someone who would be the only girl at the part/event...but not for the sole purpose of breaking up a sausage fest.

Come to think of it, that's kind of a strange idea to begin with. If you happen to only have guys at a party, who cares? If you want to do something about it make more female friends or something.

Good Job. It seems it's mostly eye candy for guys and such. Me, I don't care who looks like what. As long as they can play Poker and has betting chips, I'll be a good friend.

Psh. The only reason I'd want all eyes on me is if I'm raking a giant pot accross the table.
I'm often the only girl because well, I don't usually get along with a lot of girls, often they can be quite catty and i have been betrayed by female friends in the past. Plus, I'm in school and in my programme and year, there are 3 girls out of 20 people.

Ah, didn't spot this post before. Think about it perhaps from this angle?

Your Boyfriend is jealous or worried that his own friends perfer you to him. He gets snippy because he wants to hold onto you and feels that he'd lose you if you saw someone "better" out there.

Its an immature reaction to feelings of inadequecy. Either he feels he's not worthy of you or his friends are better than him...It might not even be a concious thought, just a feeling or urge to shield you from such possiblities.

I dont' flirt with these guys. And my bf and I are apart most of the time anyways.
My boyfriend isn't invited because he doesn't know these people (though I'm sure they wouldn't mind him coming by) and he can't get here (we have a long distance relationship)
I"m actually a decent poker player, I came in second among them last time we played.
And I already know how to play. Thank you for assuming that I would cheat on my bf and am incapable of turning down any offers of "action".

Furthermore, I'm usually quite content with him, if anything makes me want to find someone "better" it's this kind of behaviour.

there is a guilty conscience for you. i was just giving you the real world take on the situation, and perhaps a bit of what your bf is thinking. if you applied it to yourself and took it to heart- well, thats a problem for sure. you are young, defensive, and a bit irrational.

Ah, sorry for the misunderstanding. I thought you were playing poker with his friends.

Now it makes even less sense, it sounds less logical and more like a kneejerk emotional reaction. **sigh** I wish I find another answer, but I'm simply gonna say that he sounds a tad "controlling" If he honestly doesn't want you hanging out with male friends. There's something wrong.

I don't know the situation at all well enough to go into specifics of course, you'll have to draw your own conclusions. Perhaps this is a single blemish on an otherwise great guy, perhaps not. I wish you the best of luck with it.

My bf doesn't live near me because I go to school in another city. During the summer, I go home and he lives 10 mins down the street. And yes, I'm so horribly self centered... oh, no wait, where did you ever get the illusion that you know anything at all about me?
If anyone here is being catty, it's you. I really don't care.

Earlier I may have been emotional, but I was getting yelled at by someone I give a shit about and don't need someone who I don't know making assumptions and accusations as well...
