Anybody here read Red Rabbit? I guess Tom Clancy was right.

Not (completely) related to this, but the Communists also had a plot to assassinate John Wayne. As for the Pope, I don't see why they would want to kill him. I mean, killing John Wayne makes sense, but not the Pope.

I've read Red Rabbit, I didn't think it was possible the Soviets did it until now. What else can you expect from Communists?

I thought the Red Rabbit (Tom Clancy) scenario was pretty plausible. Not much reason to do it, but for someone who isn't going to consider the whole "Turn most Christians into a raging mass of revenge-minded psychopaths" then yeah, it could work.

I'd still rather see a RPG-7 used on "The Popemobile." That would have been more interesting, harder to stop, than "Guy with pistol." Range is your friend.

I think the next pope should be more security aware. And should upgrade the pope mobile into the pope riot control mobile.
tell me you wouldnt love it.

OOC: So I'm a troll now for voicing my opinion?

I think your a pathetic little loser who can't see anyone elses point of view except your own. Everyone is entitled to a voice, and mine wasn't vulgar or threatining in any manor.

I kind of agree with Warhammer..the Pope was pretty darn anti-communist, and made no bones about it...did you give him a warning just because he didn't qualify that statement?

Edit: though his next statement is clearly flamebait. Ban away.

I shot the pontiff, but I did not shoot the cardinal.
I shot the pontiff, but I did not shoot the cardinal.

All around in the VC part of town
They’re trying to track me down.
They say they want to bring me in right on call
For the killing of a cardinal,
For the life of a cardinal.
But I say:

I shot the pontiff, but I swear it was in soul-defense.
I shot the pontiff, and they say it is a Catholic offense.

Pontiff Paul two always hated me;
For what I don’t know.
Every time that I plant a seed
He said, kill it before the crows.
He said, kill it before the crows.
I say:

I shot the pontiff, but I swear it was in soul-defense.
I shot the pontiff, but I swear it was in soul-defense.

An indulgence came my way one day
And I started out on the A2.
All of a sudden I see pontiff Paul Two
Signing to send my soul down.
So I shot, I shot him down.
I say:

I shot the pontiff, but I did not shoot the cardinal.
I shot the pontiff, but I did not shoot the cardinal.

Reflexes got the better of me
And what is to be must be.
Every day the sinner goes to the hell,
But one day the devil will drop out,
Yes, one day the devil will drop out.
But I say:

I shot the pontiff, but I did not shoot the cardinal, oh no.
I shot the pontiff, but I did not shoot the cardinal, oh no.

Yes it is well-known information that the KGB hired that gunman to shoot the Pope. They were afraid of his potential to turn eastern Europeans against the USSR. They were right!

Why? Activities like this frequently cross ideological lines. It's generally called "the enemy of my enemy is my friend." See: WWII history.
