The closest I've gotten is pulling a gun on a guy who owed me some money, and getting into a couple of knife fights where I really only wanted to get away, not kill anyone. So, has anyone here actually attempted homicide?

no, but i've had it attempted on me. cops tackled him before he could pull his gun, though. fun night. if he had shot me, i woulda been pissed.
edit: i should probably mention that i had never met this man before in my life, and he was only planning to shoot me because i involved myself in something that i was later informed by my girlfriend i should not have. wierd sentence structure, but correct, i think.

yes. i beat to nearly to death a some dumb white power skinhead fuck when he broke into my house. (base ball bat) damn my friend/neighbor for coming over and stopping it.
i also got hit over the head with a bottle at a new years eve party, and before i passed out, i stabbed the offender in the face with some of the glass. he now wished he died.

I've never almost committed homiceide, but i have almost killed in self defense though.....some guy attempted to mug me at gunpoint, i had a knife, i did the stupid thing and resisted, he shot me in the right bicep and i stabbed him in his right kidney and slicded his stomach through...you could see internals, not very pleasant.....it was in a parking garage so i managed to get him to my car and drive us both to the hospital.....he's still in prison. they got him for armed robbery and 2 murders..i could have been next.

8mm.....i also got shot at a convenience store while trying to stop it from being robbed. once again 8 mm....they have no power....he shot me in the shoulder and i still beat him to a bloody pulp. Also the doctors say i have an extremely high opain tolerance....i had spinal menengitis for 13 days before i went to the doctors complaining of a little neck pain...they said usually people succumb to pain alone after 9.

good on ya. and yeah, the 8mm doesn't pack much punch. i don't know what i almost got shot with, as i got the hell out of dodge as soon as the cops arrived. that's trouble i just don't need.

I have a friend that got mugged, then shot in the chest after being mugged, he chased the guy almost a mile before breaking his nose, 3 ribs, and his hip. THe bullet bounced of a rib.....lol....no power whatsoever.....i accidentally stabbed myself in the leg with an exacto and it hurt worse than being shot

i believe so. if not, the differences are negligable. now we just have to wait for whispering legs to come in here and, well, do his thing. by which i of course mean yell at me for not knowing enough about firearms.

I'm another one in the "nearly killed someone but hadn't planned on it/didn't want to" category. Regular fistfight, got carried away... Not proud of that at all.

On a positive note, I normally carry a knife of some sort, and was once tempted to use it, but instead used it like you'd use a brass knuckle/roll of quarters and ended my troubles with the guy quickly. After that, I figured that pulling a knife on someone wasn't worth it unless someone had threatened you with one first. The relief that I hadn't done something that reckless was immense, and taught me to calm down in general. :)

the way your "supposed" to fight with a non-combat knife is like using brass knuckles, esecially if the handle is long....you then have your free hand to deflect blows. You punch slightly forward of your mark and leave little slices.....they sap strength from your opponent, especially around the head and neck. You then go for ligaments/tendons.....never for anything vital unless absolutely necesaary....i only got him in the stomach because he was going for the gun again.....

I've never been put into a situation that legally warranted murder, but I'd blow off an intruder's face without flinching. Anyday.
