Which is the best computer game ever? (bar Nationstates of course). I'm going to do a series of these posts, each for a different genre. Today I'm going to post up Adventure to see how people react! Just say what you think here. Not really any sense in getting heated about it...just be interesting.

My choice would have to be one of the first two Monkey Island games by Lucasarts.

If Online qualifies...
I would say that, Star War Galaxies is a good Adventure game...
But it can also be considered Sci-Fi. So you may have anothe genre coming for it.
I played a lot of SWG, some Everquest befoe that and a lot of Ultima before that...

now then gadges
fable blew me away recently but is too short.
i liked "story of thor" on the sega megadrive/genesis, even though it was a blatant rip-off of zelda.
Probably Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, but that's probably the only one I've played.

Hmm... nowadays Adventures are getting eaten up by RPG's. Simply people like the reason of levelling up and getting better.
If not, old school adventure series.. Space Quest 4. :)

Either one of the Monkey Islands. Except 4. That one sucked.

The Quest for Glory series. By Sierra who also brought us Police quest and Space quest.

I've played a LOT of old-school adventure games during the last 10 years and I must say that the best one has definitely been Beneath a steel sky.
I enjoyed it a lot because of the twisted image of the future it presents. It reminds me a lot of Orwell's 1984.

Hardly old school is it though? It does after all have graphics - when I think of old school adventures I think of Scott Adams and early Infocom releases.

The Return to Zork series was pretty cool, and bloody difficult at times!

Old-school compared to those new "adventure" games. They don't make point and click-games anymore.
But still, you're right. I haven't played a lot of those really old adventure games except "The hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy". That was absolutely hilarious. :D

Day of the Tentacle was neat, though pretty easy. But as one of the first cartoon type CD game, it rocked. Sam and Max was also good, but too easy.

Heh, I'm just playing Space Quest 5. Just can't get the sounds working. Wonderful series, I must say. Probably the best of the quest-series.

Kings Quest was more ground braking though. Always cutting edge technology, having a woman as the lead character..
Adventures I enjoyed:
- Space Quest series
- Monkey island series. The ending of nr 2 was rather bad, but the bone song makes up for it ;)
- Discworld 1 ! So delightfully tough, with lots of "Idle chatter"
- Some of the infocom adventures.
Overall I'd pick the MI series.

SQ4 is the best. Because it's about time travelling. ANd you would need to know abit of the Space Quest series, as it repeats certain things from SQ1-3.
Monkey Island all the way!
Best game ever? Hands down, Half Life.

Same, but 3 as well.
