If you're going to a costume party...

I had a silly thought about this recently and I wish that if I'm going to a costume party, I'll be dressed as either:

Waffen SS or Wehrmacht officer:

(O.K., so I've been playing Medal of Honor: Allied Assault recently.)

Chinese army/paramilitary police officer:

For those of you that don't know me, I admire the finesse of Nazi German and Chinese military uniforms.

For all you goddamn subhuman nudists out there, your birthday suit is not a costume and you cannot iron out the wrinkles!

personally, i find those shorts hilarious. kid across the hall actually dresses like that, with the high socks and shorts. it's a great deal more satisfying in person.

Those are bandaged legs. They were common in WWI Europe as well.

The pre-Nazi Germans sold vast amounts of military equipment to KMT China.

For those of you who want to hear my opinion, I thought it was funny when Prince Harry went to that costume party wearing a Wehrmacht shirt and a Swastika armband. He would have gotten no flak if it was just Wehrmacht shirt.

Thanks Sino, I did know that the Chinese copied the Mauser 7.62mm pistol shown in this picture (http://www.swallow.com.tw/military/images/chinese/c008.gif). I always learn something new everytime I come here.

I don't know if the pistols were copied. But the rifles were.

Pity I don't. Those things cost a small fortune. I used to be a (high school) Cadet before I began university. I had a full set of NZ Army DPMs (BDUs) and limited pieces of service uniforms. I was the Best Presented Cadet for the last two consecutive years.

As for actual uniforms when I am part of that corps, I treat them very seriously as they are not costumes.

As for reenacting, I don't think the scenes of PLA shooting students at Tiananmen would be very hard. LOL!

you know you can get the german square pattern BDUs for, like, 40-50 bucks, right?

I rather save that money. There's plenty of cheap military surplus in China (if I get a chance to go back).
