Seriously, I like the Terri threads. If it wasn't for them I would have to start an abortion thread. And, for better or worse, she is a public figure.

So keep them coming.

But its none of our business, it shoud've been none of our business. It should've remained in the private lives, but Terri's parent just had to drag the media into it, and the government just had to get involved, and screw the whole thing up. So STOP IT!

It's our business because it was on TV for a month.

Honestly, the parties should have thought about this before involving themselves with nutjobs (both sides).

And she's dead, so she won't care.

Her husband claims she wanted to die with dignity, that she did not wish her loved ones subject to longterm suffering on her behalf.

Shall we grant her those wishes and say "it's over, let her and her family find peace"?

Yeah, well her husband should have stayed away from that loony-tunes lawyer then.

How, pray tell, would he have been able to carry out his late wifes wishes without him ? Assuming he is not the spawn of Satan of course, which so many people claim.

Erm, by getting a normal lawyer, that wouldn't persue publicity like whore after crack.

Both sides turned into media whores, so now terri's memory is public domain.

Frankly, if we all behave like shits, and laugh at this bullshit melodrama and sudden need for privacy, people might think twice before pulling this kind of crap in the future.

Oh, and for christ sake people, get a written living will.

How do you know? Did God tell you that himself eh?

don't know about anyone else's god, but I know that my G-d loved her, its in many of the holy texts of my faith that shows that G-d loves his children and that his will is to defend those that can't defend themselves, and to protect the weak from the hands of the wicked. I wish more people would have been able to know such things, but they feel that its up to a person's spouse then the family that raised them and have been a better part of a person's lifetime.

If Terri wanted to die, and she had told these things to her husband, then why the hell did he sue for 750,000 to keep her alive in a malpractice suit and only after getting a rather large lump sum himself, and only after fathering two children while still married to his wife, did he remember that, oh wait, she wanted to die, thats right.....eh, I'm sure this all falls upon deaf ears.

If this had all happened within a few days or months I would agree on the fishy smell. But it did not. It is over a period of years.
Now, lets form a theory:
First he tries everything in his power to let her get better. Only after being told over and over again that she will not get better he decides to honour her wishes for this predicament and move on with his life. To him, his wife is dead and only the empty shell which was once her body remains. Her memory however lives on, and for that he tries to have her final wishes honoured and the body given rest. For years. Despite the hate of many. True love.

Now, I can not look into this mans mind and know for certain that he is this noble. But this theory fits the facts just as well as the "spawn of satan" stories.

2 years after winning 750,000 for her, and 300,000 for him, he says, she ain't going to make it, don't resuscitate her. 4 years later, he wants the tube removed

granted its pulled over the course of 15 years, but waiting 2 years to sue, and then 2 years later giving up, I would never give up on my wife like that, maybe with the passing of more time, but after winning the money needed to keep her going, I would exhaust that first. There remains 50,000 from the money set aside for her. I think he should use it to give her a proper burial and momument, I know I would for my wife.
