Anyone besides me miss "The X-Files?"

One of the few series on television that I have truly enjoyed over the past few years was the X-Files. What with the reruns and buying videos of some installments, I suppose I've watched each installment of the X-Files about ten times. The show was intelligent, intriguing, at times surprising, and sometimes kinda scary.

Why can't there be more series like that? Did all the creative people go to work for dot coms or something???

I watched it all the time when it was on, but I don't really miss it. Maybe the ending turned me off. It was really disappointing.

YES!!!!!

I have most of the DVD seasons now!

They are trying for another movie. Duchovny wants too, the creator is sorta interested but Anderson doesn't seem interested.

Ahh well. It's not the same knowing the Lone Gunment aren't out there anymore! ;)

I loved that show. My favorite episode was sort of a dark comedy set among carnival people. And you just kept wanting Mulder and Scully to figure out their relationship.

Yeah, I was thinking that the other day. It's all about the changing winds, though. What you watch on tv is directly influenced by a select few television producers. Right now, this creative bunch is all about how many different types of REALITY TV shows they can come up with. Shame on all of you for watching them. *looks embarrased*

I liked that one too. Another of my favorites was where the entire show was as if they were "on location with the men and women of law enforcment" in a session of the reality-TV series "Cops." They were trying to figure out what kept attacking and killing people in this really bad neighborhood of LA. Come to find out it was some sort of creature which fed off of the fear it generated by making them think it was their worst nightmare. It was funny too.

I agree about the relationship thing on the show, but that was part of the show's attraction. I kept thinking, "God! Will those two ever get it on and quit teasing!" Heh! I wonder ... do you think the characters ever made it together? Skully got preggers, but it was by artificial insemination with Muldar's semen. That's no fun! ;)

Most of those damned shows really suck! I hate that silly "Scare Tactics!" :(

The first 3-4 seasons were good, but it all went so far downhill after the movie, and changing the main characters was just plain awful. :(

I agree. John Doggett was ok, as was the other female lead ( forget the character's name just now ), but the core of the show was the growing relationship between Mulder and Skully, I think. I never will forget that "Mellinium Group" episode when they finally kissed and Mulder said, "Well, the world didn't come to an end." :D

I think Duchovny instigated that. He was afraid of "getting stereotyped." They did bring him back from "capture by the Alien Bountyhunters" though. :D

I loved it when the one character ( the heavyset one with glasses; Frohickey?? ) told Mulder that Skully was "tasty!" Mulder told him that he gave a new meaning to perversion. Heh!

BTW, any thoughts on why the aliens didn't take off w/ Scully's baby?

Yes. Cigarette-smoking man's son, the FBI agent who was horribly disfigured by the alien testing, administered something to the boy which "made him normal." The aliens no longer wanted to destroy him.

I figured you would've liked the Nephilim episode, Eutrusca (i did) ... a bunch of the ones on VHS release were good but i haven't gotten 'round to nabbing the rest. Just taping off of cable for me.
So what does everyone think the second movie angle will be? I've heard that it's a go ahead. I've also heard there's gonna be a Simpson's movie, but who knows ... ;)

I know, I watch it on Sunday night 1-2 am. I have late classes lol. Sometimes I wish there was a channel that was all about doing a good show instead of chasing after the all mighty dollar. I would host that channel.

It was one where i think Scully's pastor asked her to look into the death of one of the church's family members - a girl with (i think) an extra digit or two and scapulae that denoted possible wing (de)formation at some time, and she ends up attempting to save the (abominations) from (Satan), who was a social services worker. And the priest that was involved had a church that held the cross upside-down out of humility ...
That was an excellent episode, one of the best. There are a lot of bests though. *nods*

Oh yeah. I remember that one. The social worker couldn't come into the house unless someone invited him in, yes? For some reason, they don't seem to rerun that one as much as some of the others.

in other words... people would realize he is 'Spooky'

But his personality type doesn't fit well at ALL with the FBI culture. They would never hire him. :)

I liked both Pusher episodes. Just interesting enough to not make you irritated they bothered with a sequel.
I really dug "Beyond The Sea" a lot, for content not based necessarily on plotline.
But, like i said, lots of greats.
Props to y'all Lone Gunmen fans too. That show was good. I'm even happier if it's true that they put out the DVD for it ... now gotta get that and Volume II of Millenium (note: not a Carter fellater since i didn't like Harsh Realm at all).
