Yeah, I know for the most part, national anthems are rather pompous and sentimental but there are a few that I still enjoy.
Rule Britannia - United Kingdom
Always makes me feel proud to be British.
The Internationale - Union of Soviet Socialist Republics
For a bunch of commies, they knew how to make the music nationalistic.
The East is Red - People's Republic of China
Loved it ever since I heard it on The Last Emperor.

I love Canada's - its so innoffensive - quite suitable for this country really.
I wish Finland's was actually 'Finlandia' - that would pwn!
and Australia's unofficial national anthem, 'Waltzing Mathilde' is amazing. :)

I like the sound of the Russian best.
And the lyrics of the French.

I always thought that the USSR's anthem was very inspirational. I'm no fan of the USSR, but it was a great song with the right chorus. The UK's national anthem is very regal-sounding, I think. I can't remember many national anthems offhand, but I think Japan's national anthem (kimigayo) has stupid lyrics.
"May the reign of the Emperor continue for a thousand, nay, eight thousand generations and for the eternity that it takes for small pebbles to grow into a great rock and become covered with moss."
 I didn't think pebbles grew into great rocks over time...

I like God Save the King/Queen, I Vow to Thee My Country (England's Anthem) and Rule Britannia.

Only in America could you have a national anthem that started as a poem written by a prisoner on a ship and sung to the tune of an old english drinking song. USA! USA! USA!

Could not agree more.
Canda's Anthem is the best of them all.

The Icelandic anthem is the best but the litle bastards are trying to change it into another song that is very ungly sounding and repeats it self over and over and over.
The German one is nice.
The Internationale, not surprisingly.

And it's the only one in the world that mentions rockets and bombs. We rule!
I like Russia's (the one that goes something like "Rossia - sviashennaia nasha derzhava, Rossia - lubimaia nasha strana!" [transliterated, of course]) and, of all things, the European Union's, which is actually "just" an instrumental version of the "Ode to Joy" by Beethoven.
I happen to like the Pakistani national anthem.
