I find lots of places exciting: Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, Iceland, Sweden, Finnland.
But I like to live right where I am, within driving distance ( and walking distance for some ) of my children and grandchildren. They love me, the poor things. :D

I'd like to live right here in New Jersey. It's paradise.
Southern French Countryside, probably. That'd be... well... awesome's not really the right word, but you get my drift.

Iceland or Finland. I'm not sure which I like more.
Hmmmm..... I really liked Copenhagen, Denmark; so, I guess I would want to live there or Oslo, Norway. There are other places I would consider, but I would have to visit them first. If I had to pick a place in the states, I would pick Boston, Philadelphia, DC (or on the VA side), or New York City.

Don't know honestly. I've travelled quite a bit, and most likely maybe Australia. Seems to be within travelling distance of close family in South East Asia.
But I've been doing my research on my country, it's politics and economics. From growing fundamentalism, oil money, competition with China, and now Indonesia and Thailand threatens our industries, to being a second rate citizen all my life never getting equal opportunities, and getting a job that doesn't make sense because of increasing inflation, racial quota's, etc.
I think I'm heading towards a bleak future If I stay here too long.
And with globalisation and stuff, I'd like to consider the earth my home.
I would like if possible get a citizenship of one country which easily allows me to travel the world. Currently I would have a hard time getting a Visa to enter US or UK. So Australia would most likely be my first home.

I'm relatively happy where I am in Michigan, but the most beautiful place I've been to was probably Salmon, ID. I haven't been in the Swiss Alps yet and I suspect they'd compete, but having been in numerous different countries, states, climates, and geographically dissimilar places, I still think Salmon, ID is about the most pristine place I've been.

I like where I'm living right now. But I could imagine living in Kobenhagen or London too. Kobenhagen is so wonderfully carefree and relaxed. And london has a certain charm.

Seriously though, out of Copenhagen and Oslo, I'd go for Copenhagen... more laid back, more things to do, and above all cheaper beer! Oslo is nice though.

There are a lot of places I'd love to see, and to live in for some period of time - but it doesn't matter where, as far as roots. What matters to me, is who Im there with. :)

Never been to Oslo but I do like both Stockholm and Copenhagen. Won't move back to Helsinki.
I'm happy to live where I live now but I guess I'll spend some time abroad later on. Actually I've thought about moving to Sweden or Denmark because I wouldn't have to look after a job.

I'm currently fine living in Norrköping, Sweden. I'll probably move to another city in the future, once I'm done studying, but I don't think I'll move from Sweden. If I for some reason would however, I would probably move to Norway or Finland.

Never been to Copenhagen, but Stockholm is gorgeous. I would love to live there. Tokyo is great for while I'm young, but I think Stockholm would be a great place to live long-term.

I'd like to live somewhere else other than the UK, because, let's face it, this government has made a complete fuck-up of the country which can't be rectified (not for a good few years anyway). Unfortunately I have to stay here to study. I get a year abroad, which is cool. After my degree I'm leaving. That's right, either France or Spain (as I speak French and Spanish they seem like the sensible options) and plus, as I'm only travelling within the EU it will be much easier.

Jyväskylä, in central Finland (öh...not quite central, but that's what the area is called). I was born in Åbo. (I've moved a lot) It's alright but the people are certainly not the nicest ones in Finland. Same goes with Helsinki. Of course there are lots of very nice people living in these towns (most of my good friends live in Helsinki, one also in Åbo, oh and Bunnyducks lives in Åbo) but the general athmosphere is not as good as in some other towns.
Helsinki is much better in cultural scene than any other town (well of course, it so much bigger than any other town) but still not for me. Or it's nice as long as you don't want to think about things like buying your own house or raising kids etc.

Alberta? Occidio! NO!! Please don't! The mid-west is too full of bigots and environmental destructives, come to BC - I'll give you a nice foot rub and a full Canadian body massage (maple syrup included)! Then you can wax my... er... car, yes, thats it! my car! :D

Ok, I may sound mad, but whenever I have been in Helsinki I've found it really hard to find a good restaurant or a good place to go out at night (I don't mean here that the restaurants aren't good, I just can literally never actually find one when I've needed one!) Maybe I shall ask a you or Bunnyducks or Pohjoisvalta next time before I go!
I've never been to Jyväskylä... it's near/in the lake district isn't it? Maybe one day I shall get there.

What you're looking for? There are exellent restaurants but true, they can be hard to find. I rarely go to any night clubs because they don't usually play any music I like. But some are worth a visit :D
Jyväskylä is surrounded by lakes but it's not really in the lake district. Or that depends on what you consider as lake district. For me it's a bit more to the east.

Do you have any recommendations?
Last time I was there I remember eating at somewhere almost opposite the Svenska Teatern (how appropriate). One good place I do remember is a restaurant right by the orthodox cathedral on the sticky out bit of the city near the President's palace... think it was called Sipuli?
I have also been to Tammerfors, which is quite nice (although maybe not the most attractive of Finland's towns). Some good bars though I seem to remember (or not remember due to the effects).

as a full fledged adult i already live where i would most like to live, in a little house " on the banks" of the rio grande in new mexico
but there are a few places where i might buy a second house (or rent one for a season or 2).
id like a bungalow in aruba (who wouldnt??)
id like a horse ranch in the shenandoah valley (like the neighbors would have anything to do with a yankee)
id like one of those houses in the 1000 islands (st lawrence river north of ny)
that just barely fits on the tiny island its built on
id like a log cabin near jackson wyoming.
id like a sea-side cottage on frenchman's bay in maine.

Well, Calgary is ok to party... but theres nothing else you can do there without driving for a century. Edmonton is ok in the summer... but one winter there and you might understand why no one stays very long (and Im not talking about the crazy weather... thats just Alberta in general). BC has nicer scenery, friendlier people, and better weather... not to mention a person (me) who is more than willing to tie you up when you need a good punishing. (of course I would expect reciprocity on this one) Im glad youre willing to wax my... er... car too. :D
