Now there is a movie that need to be remade!! I was thinking a biotech base for the city, when you go to carousel you are consumed by some hungry plants or muck or something.
There is nothing quite like that cool, feminine voice, "Logan 6, identify."

sweeet.

Excellent idea, though the hungry plants adds little I think, and would make them all the more fearful of Sanctuary when they finally find it. The whole idea of nature vs. civilization is bridged.

That movie is still one of my favourites, for Peter Ustinov's role alone.

Nah, the plants would add loads, it would make them more fearful of sanctuary, and they're supposed to be anyway! The whole point of the film is that in the end, they embrace the nature they had gotten rid of in the first place. It's great!!

They'd have a hard time getting the Movie to have a PG13 rating again if they tried to keep the orgy of sorts. Or the skinny dipping. Or the machine that pops a sex partner into your room. Or the rampant nudity that sprang up every 3 minutes... Definitely a product of its time.

And killer plants? What? The idea is that you get re-incarnated. Could you really expect people to maintain enough suspension of disbelief to pretend that an entire society has accepted the idea that getting eaten by plants = reincarnation?

Still, I'd like to see it re-made. It’s a great classic movie. Along the same lines I'd like to see the classic Westworld get remade.

Westworld did get remade: they called it Futureworld, then a few years later they remade it again and called it Jurassic Park. I wonder if Michael Crichton is planning to remake it again under the title One Trick Pony...

I've never seen this movie. The only reason I even know the title is because of Family Guy.

Its a film about two athletes, one called Logan, and the other called Abrahams and the dramas that surround them as they compete in the 1924 Olympic games in Paris. Logan has a crisis of faith because he is a devout Christian, but one of the qualifying races is to be held on a Sunday. I hope that helps.

That does help! Thank you very much. I'll see if the video store has it.

He actually wrote a book about abortion. He didn't make it into a movie though.

There's been talk for some time of a remake, though not a remake of the original film, per se - rather remaking the screenplay to reflect more of the original novel by William Nolan.

A large number of conceits in that novel were altered, or dropped altogether from the screenplay for the 1976 version. The City was originally envisioned as being a decentralized affair straddling the entire planet, connected via tube systems from one sector to another. The terminal age for inhabitants was 21, not 30. The Sandmen used some rather complex firepower, including the 'Homer', a smart, computer-guided explosive-tip bullet. Drugs and sex are MUCH more prevalent than anything hinted at in Michael Anderson's version...for instance, the Cubs in Cathedral use an inhalant called 'Muscle', which is how they can, in groups anyway, totally swarm and overcome their better-developed seniors.

There IS a 'Sanctuary' - there is NO 'Old Man' as portrayed by Peter Ustinov. No ruins of Washington D.C., no Congress full of cats. Francis 7 is not what he appears to be. And Box doesn't live inside a walk-in freezer, he has his own digs in the Arctic.

I haven't actually seen this particular page before, but it would seem to contain links to all the various Logan's Run remake speculation sites I've previously visited, so knock yourselves out.
