Genocide in the US?

Who believes that Americans should be wiped out? Who believes they should not?

In my mind America is really two countries in one...the coastal states seem to be civilised, progressive and friendly. They seem to have a respect for other countries and other cultures.

The South on the other hand, with the strong history of racism of course, seems to me to be a frustrating and anarchic place where poverty and the ignorance spread by the Bible Belt dominate people's lives.

I'd choose to kill off the culture of the second, if I could.

Make that under the bridge, and eats goats.

Dang it, man, I LIVE in Kansas. :p

For the record, my fiance (wife in 8 days) was born and raised on the coasts. She finds all of the following true (in her own words):

Life is less stressful
It's much easier to live with higher quality
The people are much more likely to be outgoing/nice without even knowing you
Most people are more tolerant of others than back in MA

The stress level should be obvious.

Same with quality of life - I have heard that it takes about 400k a year in NYC to earn you the same things that 50k a year will get you in Topeka.

I've personally experienced the "friendly" bit firsthand.

And it seems that while people ARE willing to "live and let live" here in the Midwest, even if it rather offends us.. back on the coast, my fiance has told me that it seemed as soon as people found out she had a religeous inclination, they immediantly turned a cold shoulder - from work (who refused to let her have even one Sunday a month off, even tho' she specifically requested that during the interview) to school (where she came under personal attack via the professors).

Ironically, the South is also known for hard workers, kindness to strangers and strong families....

Also... Florida is both a Southern AND a Coastal state....

And, believe it or not, the respect for other countries is thorough. The desire to -GO- to them, however, is in the adventurous North, not the Settled South.

I feel that this is a multi layered question that would require some serious and in-depth thought to come up with an answer that could truely be capable of dealing with the issues involved in.....NOW, SHOOT THE TROLL!

The best part was where he said: "The coastal people have a respect of other cultures", and then in the same breath uttered: "The Bible is an ignorant and dominating piece of work that turns whole countries into backwoods reprobates".

So much for "open minded and accepting", eh?

I'm one of the most liberal people on here, and I've lived almost all my life in the South. Born in Texas, and I grew up there, Oklahoma and South Carolina. I'm a tree-hugging, feminist atheist bleeding-heart liberal socialist. :D

Can't people take an amusing hypothetical question with a light-heart?

Plus, yes I'm open-minded...but I hate religion. That just makes me sane.

What's your take on the "general acceptance level" of those around you in the quote-unquote "Bible Belt"?

I'm interested.. was I that far off in my estimation?

I don't think proposing genocide based ondiscriminatory comments to be amusing nor light-hearted. And religion, of all things, cannot be determined geographically within the US. New Englad, for example, is full of Catholics. More religious, in nature, than a large part of the south.

And, if I may add, hating religion is rather... ignorant. To be ignorant is to not be open-mined. Please don't contradict yourself when you've already made yourself sound rediculous.
