and lastly, i left my installation code for Sim City 4: Rush Hour in Cardiff... about 200 miles that way, but the CD is here and i really want to play it! anybody got a Rush Hour code i could, you know, steal? :D

I used to play the simcity games. SC 2000 was the best, IMO. The newer games basically have better graphics, more bloat, and you tire of them quickly. (plus, concidering how badly made SC 4 is - just look at what a terribly slow, buggy, bloated mess it is. Those programmers can't have been given the chance to do a half-decent job - SC 5 will probably be even worse. EA doesn't give a damn about the quality of it's games as long as they sell, so don't espect too much)

i actually thought sim city 3000 was better than 4000, 4000 was unstable and for me far too complicated! :eek:

I started off with Simcity, which was good, then simcity 2000 which was even better, but after that I got more into "The Sims" with people rather than cities, if you know the titles I mean (Hot date; unleashed; university; urbz; ect).

I found SC 3000 better than SC 4 too, but SC 2000 is still far better than SC 3000 IMO.

I've had it for months and there are still surprises for me! Like the guy who was abducted by aliens, and the woman who I won't let go to the bathroom. I'm still trying to get Claire the bear to maul someone, can it be done?

No, you can't get the bear to maul someone.

Oh, and that abducted by aliens thing? It's entertaining alright, but the downside is the complete change of the abductee's personality :(

I had to delete myself and start all over again because of that. Now, I save every time he goes outside. Oh, and they only come if you have a telescope, right?

Only if you have a telescope. But if you have "Makin Majic" or one of the expansions after it, or the Sims Deluxe (I don't have makin' magic so I'm not sure about it), but either on Deluxe or an expansion after it (Superstar I'm pretty sure) you get this chem/magic set and you can make potions (even if you do not have makin magic). The potions are colour coded.
Blue=health
red=someone loves you
green= evil clone
Purple=monster (don't cancel the action or else you will not change back)
yellow=inverts personality so you can change back
Orange=invisable

ta-daaaa... my ideas for Sim City 5 :cool:

• Bridge options: you should be able to put a bridge anywhere you like – especially over other roads. Ditto tunnels.
• 3D free-roaming camera
• A ‘design tool’ similar to that in The Sims 2 – click on a road (or roads) to choose architectural style (for the road – boulevard, colour, quality; increases in quality must be paid for)
• 1st person car mode (far-fetched but cool :D). possibly a 1st/3rd person flight sim-style plane mode. 1st person riding in trains?
• More humour than SC4 – SC3k style
• Return to the cool jazz music of SC3k :)
• The ability to curve roads – similar to how the curve tool works in (eg) MS Paint (draw straight road then curve it… should be to any angle)
• Larger cities than SC4! Not even being able to reach a million people sucked!
• More types of roads – multi-lane
• Trees: in Mayor mode, the player should have the ability to place a single tree (as per SC4) or paint forests (as per SC4 Terrain Editor mode)
• Possibility of normal ground rail to subway link
• Improved on/off-ramps on highways
• Ability to build elevated rails above roads (like the “L” in Chicago)
• Keep the “My Sim” feature
• Interconnected regions (trade, transport, city deals...)
• Multiplayer? Co-op in the same city? Over the net?
• Ability to name streets (& view street signs)
• Pedestrianised areas (bordered with retail shops)
• Shopping malls (perhaps owned by the city & generates rent). More city-owned (but expensive to build) buildings which generate income. Supermarkets. Farmers’ Markets & Farm Shops.
• Further zoning – selecting the type of retail outlets (high-street retailers like HMV, clothes stores; or out-of-town retail park style stores), the type of industry (high tech, etc), type of residential (quality of housing)….not just density.
• Differing quality/types of public transport. Ie cheap run-down busses are inexpensive, but in larger, richer cities you can have double-decker or articulated busses. Ditto trains. Plus, it would be nice to have trams (would have to lay track on top of roads)
• Rubbish (trash) on the roads, street cleaning/sweeping sims and trash collecting vans should be seen.
• The sphere of influence of a police/fire station (or hospital) should not be a simple circle, but worked out for time taken to get there.
• More park options.
• Easier than SC4 – perhaps the ability to turn off (or down) the monthly costs (SC3k style)
• Bicycles as a transport option to be encouraged by ordinances & placing bike racks next to (eg.) bus stops.
• Bus stops should not be independent buildings, but placed onto road tiles

Ideas from other posters on other forums (the good ones imo)

• And finally, around the borders of your city, there should be a translucent area (perhaps 10 squares out) that shows the bordering cities [for easier matching up of transport & utility links]. I think you should be able to switch cities directly, without having to back out to the region and select a new one. If the city borders your current city, you should be able to bring that one up directly
• Create buildings specifically for mountains like ski resorts or Canadian Rocky Mountain chateaus.
• It would be better if you had actual weather. Like rain, snow, thunder, floods,etc. That would make your city look sooo realistic
• Region capitals (should get some kind of bonus – monetary or otherwise)
• [advance the level of detail… like the ability] to zoom in up close to an individual sim opening up a window or another sim employee pushing carts into a supermarket
• Also i think it needs more realistic money. Like instead of 500 dollars for a school its like 1 million... and of course your taxes would compensate for that. So an average family depending on their salary would pay like 30K a year or something
• Also it think it'd be neat if the cars would stop fading in and out. I know that would take a lot of system resources, but i think it'd be cool to see cars sitting at a light with turn lanes and watching traffic go in turns. And instead of fading out when they reach a destination they park on the street or in the parking
• There should also be no set sizes for cities, and you should just have to agree on borders. Like real cities. [therefore, ability to increase size of one city]
• You shouldn't have to be at a certain elevation to have water. You should be able to have a high elevated lake, and a deep valley. Also, you shouldn't just use Water pumps/towers to get water. You should also be able to drain it out of a lake, and worry about the potential problem of taking too much. And the ENVIRONMENT. Pollution should affect it. I know it is alot to ask, but it would be so realistic
• It would be cool if they could have like one or two cities in each region that are run by the computer that you can compete against to see who the better mayor is
• Online mode! This may sound ambititous though. Basicly, Each "server" Would be a region. When you enter a region you see everyone elses cities. You can then choose an empty spot for your city. In U drive mode you can drive form your town to other cities. If you drive to a fellow players city hall you can propose deals and land purchase to fellow cities, or request they build more farms etc. so your city will grow. That way, it's not like sim city 4 where you can dump all your trash in one spot, your fellow player must allow you to dump the trash there! ALso, if someone else if having trouble with a riot, fire etc. for example you could help him out with dispatches
• Different terrain types (desert, snow, etc..)
• SimCity 4 did a better job of making houses seem realistic. However, houses built on hills still seem to be a little weird. No one digs a sheer cliff out of the side of the mountain . . . the building gets built partly underground. This needs to be added to SimCity 5
• The addition of things like National Parks and wildlife recluses where people could go camping and fishing would be excellent as well. This, of course, could include the addition of deserts, mountainous regions, etc.) . . . just to add to the effect of each region contributing to a whole world
• all the mayor functions that would be needed for snow removal and opening up roads in the event of harsh weather.....wood burning restrictions, Sims wearing winter wear in the winter and summer wear in the summer....buildings that will also become snow covered or have water shooting out of the drain spouts of the houses in a rain storm, the Sims' breaths showing as they breath out the cold air in winter.....opening up umbrellas when it rains...getting splashed by passing cars that run through puddles and having the Sim curse the vehicle that splashes them....Sim kids throwing snow balls at cars (crime to be investigated), or simply playing winter games like snow angels, building snow men, making snow forts, shoveling their walks, mowing their lawns etc… plane de-icing, grounded flights, delayed flights should also be connected to whatever the weather is doing.

I personally enjoy the Sim City for the Super Nintendo the best, with the Macintosh version of Sim City 2000 coming in a close second. (I never really played it on a PC). 3000 is ok, but it was the most recent incarnation I have played.
