Perhaps most of us don't have good arguments, just a general dislike.

Ottawa. nice enough place but *yawn*, nothing special for the nation's capital...

New Brunswick
It just seems like the ugly step sister of the good atlantic provinces. I hate driving through it or having to spend time in it. Between Quebec and Nova Scotia there exists this cultural, economic, intellectual void.

I'm going to go with Toronto.
Ever since I can remember, we've had to put up with that stain upon Southern Ontario. The city is just plain horrible - dirty, rude, full of driver's worse than those in Montreal, and the immigrants never leave it to go to other places in this country.
Living about 2 and a half hours from it, it irritates me beyond all belief.

Well... there is this one spot.
If you're ever in Kelowna, B.C. head across the Okanagan lake bridge towards Westbank... stay on Highway 97 until you reach Bartley Rd.
Take a left on Bartley then follow it. Bartley become East Boundary Rd.
Stay on East Boundary... past Daimler... and then the road will turn to the left and up a fairly long steep hill.
About halfway up the hill off to the left there's a foot trail that heads up Mt. Boucherie. If you follow it it kind of winds it's way back and forth up the mountain towards the top.
Roughly halfway up the mountain there's a spot where you pass a lot of loose shale right underneath a couple big rock outcoppings. If you go scramble over the shale and head towards the rocks there's a spot where you can go between the outcroppings and it looks almost like a natural (really uneven)staircase, way faster than following the trail all the way around and oh so tempting a route...
So I went that way and stubbed my toe. Really hard.
The rest of the country's great.

here, here. Regina is by far and away one of the ugliest cities i've ever seen.
However, there are places which are worse. One of them is Swift Current, Saskatchewan. Don't let the name fool you, the people are neither swift nor, current. Quite the opposite. After spending two and a couple thousand dollars, Swift Current finally came up with the slogan of "Life makes sense". Worse slogan ever, in my mind.
On top of that, almost all the people i've met from there are one of a few things: hockey players, skids, or idiots. Of all the people i've met from there, there's only about three i'd say are alright. This girl in my 260 class, my cousin and her husband.
Swift Current: Not one of the top ten cities in the country, instead, one of the worst in the civillized world.

Oh agreed, Kelowna's excellent. It's quite possibly one of the best locations on the planet... with the glaring exception of that one few square meter section...
My toe and I are holding a grudge.

I might even know where you're talking about - though Im not sure if I recall any sort of staircase there... hmm... might have to go and check that out one day. I used to live in the Shuswap/Okanagan - best place in BC to grow up, without a doubt.
As far as places I dislike - well, northern Alberta is a scummy cesspool of bigots and backwards thousand year old thinking. Most of Saskatchewan is pretty damn boring too - but hey, there are good things about those places too. So really even then, I can't complain. :)

I have never ventured anyfarther then Edmonton so I don't know about other places in Canada. but I have meet lots of ppl from other places due to workin at a ski hill. So, based on that I have come to despise Toronto. But, really, I live in Van city and the rest of the province just seems way to cold to deal with

You're kidding right? Temperature wise Van is much cooler than the southern interior in the summer, and socially people are much more 'clique' here than most of the 'warmer' communities I know from the Shuswap/Okanagan. I suppose it is warmer in the winter... but hey, its winter! Its supposed to be cold!! :)
(btw, Lasc, pleased to meet you - its always nice to bump into other Vanners in here!)

Saskatchewan. All the roads are straight. Very, very straight.
Now if was the best part of Canada I'd say Gimli, Manitoba. And I'm from Alberta. Gimlie was up for the best small town in Canada and the world. And i spent a summer there.

Brampton!! : I spent the first 17 years of my life in that pestilential sink of depravity and I can tell you that place is hell. The layout of the town is suburban sprawl on steroids. The architecture is even blander than a Matchbox 20 song. The parks are full of dogshit because the ignorant morons who live there are too selfish to clean up after their pet. The schools are poorly administered institutions that punish integrity, reward bullies and stifle creativity. Entertainment is non existant, the only fun to be had as a teenager is to hang shoplift from the mall. That goes for socialising too, hang out at the mall. That's it. And the people! Dear god the people. Ignorant, small minded bigots, married to their cars.
And most damning of all. When, after turning seventeen I moved to Toronto, I was astounded at how warm and inviting the people were. That's right, I'll repeat myself. Compared to Brampton the people of Toronto are friendly, polite, and warm.

Let me add another ugly city to the list: Gatineau. across the river from Ottawa. just plain ugly. what urban architects. EDIT except for the French factor, seems to rival Brampton. enough said.

Not in the Lower Mainland. I lived there for over a year, and the only friends I made were East Coasters. I forget who said it, (and can't be bothered to look right now) but describing Vancouverites as 'cliquish' is an understatement. I travelled around B.C. a lot while I was there, and found the people pretty cool though.

Seconded!
I hate that place.
I live in Hamilton now, and you know what's sad? Hamilton has a much bigger population plus an industrial section that everyone hears such terrible things about, yet there were onyl 4 murders here the entire year last year. Brampton had 16.
And yeah, there really isn't anything to do until you hit 19. Hell, I live in heart lake when I'm not at school. There is one bar in walking distance... all the kids hang out at Tim Horton's.
And also, the best mall there, while getting improved still sucks for lack of variety... plus they took out the arcade, which had to be the only good thing in there.

You know what? I'll actually defend Toronto if anyone is interested to hear it.
I'm all ears. Actually, I like Toronto. Just don't want to live there. It's dirty and people are cold, but since I go there to go out and have fun, and shop, and then leave, it doesn't bother that much.

Well, I'll say that if you find the people cold you've never asked for directions, when I first got here, complete strangers would frequently take time out of their day to walk me to where I wanted to go and I was a punked out freaky looking guy back then. Remember, no one likes a tourist. And seriously, it's bloody easy to make friends here, since it's so easy to find people who have common interests.

Hamilton? Where's that? Just kidding, the murder rate! How could I forget that? T.O. has ten times the population as Brampton (B.O.?) but we only had four times as many murders.

You had something within walking distance to your home? I don't think heart lake qualifies as being part of brampton then.

Ah, I was a bit unclear, I was attacking the mall as an institution in Brampton. When I moved to t.o. I had friends who I kept in touch with ask me if they could come down so we could hang out at the Eaton Center. I think that qualifies as Stockholm Syndrome.

The bar's pretty much a dump. It's in the sandalwood plaza if you know where that is.

Meh, I went to B.S.S., so the mall was kind of the place to go after school what with there not being anywhere else to go or anything else to do, save billiards, but who wants to walk 45 mins to the nearest pool hall?
The arcade was at least mildly amusing. Unlike Toronto, the games were set at levels I could actually get somewhere at.. Toronto has more game enthusiasts I suppose.
And yeah, hanging out at the Eaton Centre is kinda silly, there's more interesting shopping out on queen street and there are bars along there too.
I don't go to Toronto very much. I've grown rather fond of Hamilton. As long as you stay on the west side of the city, it's not bad at all.

Even by the low standards of malls, Sandalwood sux.
And hey! I went to BSS between '89 and '92!! I hear Novak lost a foot to cancer! If you did sciences I'd like to know about a couple of teachers.
