What the hell is a .shnf? And what do I do with it?

Apparently, it stands for "Shortened File", but I cannot seem to figure out how to open it properly in Windows. I found a Linux utility to make use of it in some way, but I am unfortunately not using Linux. Does anybody have any idea what I would do if I wanted to actually open it? I mean, it looks fine and all just sitting there, but I figure there's probably another use for it aside from desktop decoration.
:p

I'm running Windows XP Home, if it matters.

If Googlewizard Neo can't find out, I doubt I can (and I don't know off the top of my head.)

But have you looked at these?

Some of what I've seen seems to equate .shn files and .shnf files.

But I wont, cause I don't want to get DEATed.
