Grokster (although I don't use it) provides a legitimate service. They cannot be punished for people using it illegally any more than the makers of CD burners should be punished because people can use them to distribute music.

I can't beleive people are making such a big deal out of this. The artists and labels aren't losing any money from downloads. In fact, several studies show that downloading increases awareness of smaller bands and leads to more sales of those artist's CD's. METALLICA SUCKS!!!

I can kill someone with a baseball bat, but that doesn't mean we should outlaw baseball bats.
Arguably, we all know that copyrighted material will be distributed over these programs. So is it really valid?
It's perfectly legal --- It's just that people use it to share music and other "illegal" content. Hey, it happens, people. Get the fuck over it. You're not losing much money from people getting things for free, so stop being greedfuckers about it.

Indeed. The vast majority of the bands I listen to today, I discovered on the internet. I'd say I own about 80 or so CD's which I can directly connect the purchase with the internet.
How else am I supposed to "discover" new music? The radio? MTV? Ha!

Well, there is one station, triple J, that is okay, but still have to listen to mountains of shit in order to hear something good. The stations that play good stuff tend to only play classical and world music during the day and an hour or two of actually-half decent music after midnight. :(

Man. Yesterday when I was listening to 103.1, they played some Billy Idol, The Clash, Dead Kennedys demos, The Cure, David Bowie, and so much more. It's fucking great!

The only station that plays music more than 20 years old is one of them "classic hits" stations. And no, they don't play punk. :(
Oh, I heard Rock the Casbah on there once, but that song sucks.
Man, does it ever! Their later stuff really is garbage. However, the stuff they play on Indie 103.1 is their older stuff... They played Bankrobber and White Riot. Fucking brilliant.
