How many of you have ever admitted to being completely wrong about something on these threads? How many of you have ever changed your mind because of the posts of someone else?

I have thought about it for myself. I have admitted being wrong a couple of times but have never changed my mind because of someone's posts.

I have changed an opinion and formed a new opinion and if i've got something factually wrong I will withdraw or correct it. I have never changed an opinion on what I see as core issues. Eg Abortion, racism, sexism, homosexuality or religion

I've admitted I was wrong a few times. I do believe that some people on this forum have changed my views a bit, in letting me understand capitalism a bit better.

I've admitted I was wrong whenever I believe I have been, and whilst I don't think my views have been radically ALTERED, they have definitely recieved some substantial readjustment, or firming.

Yeah, I mean, we are nudged a bit in one direction or another but our core beliefs generally don't change. I wonder at what age people become essentially set in their ways. It is fun to post on these here threads but I have no real other point to this post.

I have but I do not change my mind unless what I thought was correct turns out to be wrong, that has not happend yet.

I have conceded to someone else's interpretation of a word, for semantic reasons, although i tend to qualify most of my statements (nearly ad nauseum).
I think the entertainment of myself here has been a learning process but then i also don't really have enough time to see all the threads on here, so i haven't had too many new/altering opinions to mull over in the amount of time i would if i had a faster connection/modem. *wah*
I don't think i'll object to being shown up as long as the actual facts are in line, independent of rhetoric. That's my stipulation i guess but i'm fine with someone educating me not in their own interpretation of things but with a plethora of resource.
Funny, i was JUST thinkin' this last night. I found it curious you worded this thread as you did.

I make mistakes all of the time. I'm not perfect or anything, and I'll admit if someone is correct or makes a better point. It's easier to learn and conduct a civil debate this way.

Unless they can prove their point beyond my level of doubt, I'm unlikely to change my opinions. Still, I leave the door open.

I'm absolutely certain that I have been wrong on this board...problem is, due to my nature I'm rather forgetful so I can't think of any circumstances right now. :p

I've admitted I was wrong at least three times, and rightfully so.

I will admit to making a mistake when I have misquoted someone or interpreted what they said in the wrong way or have used incorrect facts. I don't admit that my opinions are wrong because they are just opinions, I do not try and present them as facts.

As for having my views changed, I certainly have. Though it is usually more likely that I had no opnion on a topic before hand and these forums opened my eyes to a situation or debate that I'd never thought about before and after reading the posts and becoming informed, I have then formulated an opinion of my own.

I have granted points to my opponents on several occasions. Usually I come right back with something else though.

One time I entered an argument saying that the Russians had really won the war against Hitler. There were 4 or 5 good arguments supporting America's superior role, and I [gasp] reversed my position.

On Nationstates I think I've admitted being wrong about some statistics or some such. Haven't had much of a reason to admit I'm wrong, because I'm right. :p

On other message boards I've admitted that I was flat-out wrong a few times. Normally though I do what everyone else does, make some character attack and then voice the opposite opinion next time the argument comes up :p

I once changed my mind about homosexuality (not all the way, but alot of it). It isn't bad after all!

I've been wrong sometimes. I'm too lazy to think of a particular instance, but I'm sure there must be at least one.

My opinions might have changed a little. I might have formed opinions on some things I've had no opinion on, or abandoned a moderately held opinion to having no opinion whatsoever, but my views on such things as the enviroment, gay rights, abortion, separation of church and state have not changed, if anything, they've become more deeply held.
