Hell yes! But they don't care because they'll get your money, even if they have to sell the family home from underneath you.

Your spelling isn't so bad, but try and capitalise the first letter of a sentence and names.;)

You know something's wrong when you reach your limit on one card, and instead of sending you a note saying 'Pay up bitch' they send you one saying 'can we lend you another $5,000? What about $10,000? Hell, since we like you, have another $15,000, despite the fact you haven't actually paid off the one card we've already given you'. Bastards. I'm never going to get a credit card. They are Satan incarnate.

What’s wrong with that? Say your card has a 2,500 limit and you spent 2,500 in a month and paid it up. You spent about that much for 3 months straight and always paid it off, so the Credit Card company figures you're not a risk and they extend your limit.

Credit Cards when properly used are great tools. The Credit Cards make money on you whether or not you end up owing them money because the Credit Card company gets a small part of every transaction you make on your credit card. You buy something for $10 and the credit card company might get 10 cents (probably to high a number). The more you spend the happier they are.

Now here is why its good for you. Helps establish good credit for loans. Also useful for their rewards. AMEX gives you cash back on everything you buy (1% or so?). Others give you miles so that your normal spending can cut the cost of your airfare travel. Etc...

When properly used Credit Cards are great. When they're improperly used... well. You've got whats coming to ya.

I don't want one. Even if I worked full-time, I wouldn't trust myself with it.

Uhh... that's all very nice, but my example was 'they send you offers of higher limit cards when you max out your limit and haven't paid it off'

Thus, you've shown zero ability to pay them back, but they're giving you the chance to borrow more money. Then they bitch when people get so badly in debt they can't even pay of the interest.

Credit card = more money for the company that produces them (you don't see AmEx or VISA be in a bad economic shape, do you?). And if people can't pay? Well, AmEx or VISA WILL get their money the one way or the other on the long run. If you can't pay, say hello to the bailiff after a while.

I don't have one. I've considered getting one, but so far I don't really have a decent reason to get one.

Your post in no way stated that the limit wouldn't be paid off. Just that it was hit. /edit/ ah, nevermind, second half of it. must have skipped over it first time, eitherway the point of the post was to demonstrate the positive side of Credit Cards /edit/

In anycase, letting people dig a deeper hole for themselves is perfectly fine as well. Its the person's choice whether they take the limit increase or if they spend any more money with the Credit Card.

I think credit card companies are scum and are the epitome of the big bussiness mentality that I can't stand. They feed off peoples debt, all the real profits they make come from outragously high intrest rates, not from percentage profit per transaction.

I dont have a card but am resigned to the fact that the world I will one day force this upon me. I think the lure of credit cards is dangerous, with the "pre-approved" adds and extending your credit limit. It's all too good to be true.

Credit Cards. A necessary evil. The amount of jobs created, the billions of dollars worth of transactions moving around each day because of it.

The tempt of spending and thinking about the consequences later is scary, but hopefully those educated enough to use it wisely, it would be a help in tight and sticky situations.
