I've seen the ads for the new Dr. Who, we will be getting it here in Canada on CBC. The ads look great, but then I grew up in England and loved the show as a kid.
But tell me, did it have Daleks?

Doctor Who *drools* I grew up on that show, and Blake's 7, and Hitchhiker's... Unfortunately Australia seems to be a little behind the times in terms of new releases. We'll probably have it next year sometime.

Australia, haven't seen it. Pity... The plastic things are the Autons. And they've been around for over thirty years. They started off in Spearhead from space (http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/doctorwho/episodeguide/spearheadfromspace/), the first Third Doctor story from 1970. Subsequently, there was a Third Doctor/Auton rematch in Terror of the Autons (http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/doctorwho/episodeguide/terrorautons/), which is notable for being the first appearance of the legendary enemy the Master.
I don't think the Autons appeared, though they appeared in the Sixth Doctor novel Synthespians (http://www.bbcshop.com/invt/0563486171). However, the novels aren't officially a part of the continuity of the series.
The Daleks will be appearing soon, in Episode Six named Dalek, April 30th.

Ah ... used to love that show as a kid. Watched it quite regularly. Giggled constantly at the 2nd and 4th Doctors and was endlessly amused by the guy from All Creatures Great and Small as the 5th.
Haven't seen any of the new ones yet, but it's only a matter of time.
