German Military Marches!!!
Is anybody else a fan of these? A good deal of them are excellent (read: ones that aren't Nazi propaganda), and are great for a listen any time of the day. My favorites are:

Der Koniggratzer Marsch

Mittenwalder Burgfuhrer Marsch
Preussens Gloria
Westerwald Marsch

It's the Westerwald Marsch, and isn't very well-known. It's a nice tune with some very good vocals.

I know the metal but not the marchs. Are those ones you have classic style march's? or are they more modern versions?
Whats a good initial one to try to get a feel of? I only have dial up so at 15mins or so a song I would rather try one that was good for a march newb rather than download something rank.

The link I posted is to a World War II-style march. Well, an update of a Prussian classic. A good update.
The Nazis used most military marches for propaganda. That doesn't necessarily mean the music itself is bad. The Horst-Wessel-Lied is bad, for instance.
Usually I don't like that rumtata music.
But I really enjoy watching 'trooping the colours' on tv once ore twice a year.

Germany has allways had a well disciplined military and the marches are very well organized. Very interesting to see.

Bah. The Nazi's shouldn't be the criteria by which you measure something.
Otherwise you couldn't do anything what Hitler and his butch boys did. Hitler for example was a fanatic vegetarian. The Nazi's pushed cancer research. (before someone brings in Mengele. That was before the war.)
They were the first to warn about the dangers of smoking.
Now you want to ban all those things cause the Nazi's had interest in it?

I never heard any of those.
But I like the Radetzky marsch by Johann Strauss. Allthough I'm not sure thats a military march song.
The Hohenfriedberger marsch is said to have been composed by King Frederick II himself.
