Where did the news go?

Is it just me, or did all the meaningful (or at least, semimeaningful) news suddenly dissapear?
I was on vacation for the last week, which means my TV-news capability was limited to:
CNN
FOX
MSNBC

Not my best choices, but what the hey.
I tune into CNN, since CNN is frequently attacked by both liberals and conservatives as being biased towards the other side, thus I consider CNN neutral.
I tune in to find out that CNN is now basicaly a gossip colum with some horrible new format.
Fine, Ill watch FOX, at least FOX generaly reports on stuff other than sports and is biased towards what (IMO) is the right (haha, that was a pun. Arent I funny?) side.
Fox is doing three stories. Over and over. Same commentary.
Terri Schiavo, Michael Jackson, Minnisota school shooting.
Over and over.
Occasionaly they interview nutjobs about the Schiavo thing (inevitably using phrases like 'murder' and 'slow painful death' and 'OMG I HEARD HER TALK! SHE SAID I WANT TO LIVE!!!').
MSNBC gave me an 'out of service' thing.

I tune back to CNN to find they are doing the same thing as FOX, but are interviewing nutjobs from both sides and using the backdrop from the pro-right to die side of the street.

I decided to watch Monster Garage on Discovery Channel, occasionaly switching to Animal Planet to watch Steve Irwin molest some new reptile.

K-19: The Widowmaker came on, so I watched that. I dont see why everybody says it was such a terrible movie. I rather liked it.

Why were you wanting to watch the news while you were on vacation? Have you seen a psychiatrist about this addiction yet? ;)

At least you have more to choose from. We have only one 24 hour news channel, and it's mostly Australian crap...

Yeah I feel ya. Sometimes I wonder if there is such a thing as "objective reporting" anymore. I just watch local, which is adequate for me.

As for K-19, I agree with your sentiments there! :D

… then there’s only really two regular/free to air networks that have news, and one is state owned.

We all miss the news, Meg. But Huey Lewis needs time to create. We have to learn to be patient :D
