I think everyone should be able to get there birthday off by law. They don't have to go to work or school.

That's nice. A little late for me, but nice anyway. Do you have a proposal to go along with that, or are you just voicing opinion?

I think I would prefer having the day AFTER my birthday off. For the obvious reason.

Ok, Magnolia, perhpas I wasn't clear enough in my first post. If you're going to have a poll and a thread about something in the UN forum, you need a proposal to go along with it.
I should advise you, however, that a proposal about what you're suggesting may be deemed unworthy for the UN by the mods, and may be deleted.

Of having 24 hours off for our birthdays but would prefer if it ran from noon on the birthday to noon the day after.
That way people whose birthdays fall on national holidays would benefit as well.
I believe many people already take time off for their birthdays so I see no harm in the concept being legal.

Wait until someone comes along telling you that the rotation of his planet means that there is only one day per year, hence this proposal would mean everyday is a holiday.
Okay, so that's quite silly, but I oppose this proposal anyway, as it would cause a large amount of people (not 1/365 a day, for obvious reasons) to be off everyday. And anyway, what's the point in having the day off if your spouse/significant other or family can't have the day off as well?
And what if you really, really enjoy work? We can't force these people to take the day off from the thing they love! ;)

I don't think this was intended as a UN thread. If Magnolia Blues has a proposal, he can repost it.

would you rather we lie to you?
That's too many people getting days off.
Besides, it would be such a crappy excuse if you call in and say, "Uh... it's my birthday."

Actually, you don't have to go to work or school on your birthday.
It's your loss though.

Hey!, This isn't as farfetched as you might think. I worked for a company that was unionized and one of the days you could take off was your birthday. Of course you had to put in for it in advance but it was available.
Hmmm, Unions ain't so bad after all... ;)

Yes, It would be like the governments birthday gift to you.
I aways book my birthday off work anyway :)
Cool idea. I'd gladly swap a birthday holiday for Easter holidays.
