Unless I am mistaken (which is extremely possible) There are a couple of varieties of Bovine that the females do have both.
(Like cartoon cows :p )

I try not to display my rural roots, but you are correct. There are cows with horns. Black and white cows, however, are generally Holsteins. Female Holsteins do not have horns. (I don't recall if the males do.)
A slightly more glaring error is that the male cow(s) are shown with udders.
And buffalo don't really run free.
Otherwise its pretty historically accurate. :D
