This thread is somewhat "tongue in cheek," but I'd be very interested in knowing what your idea of "heaven" is. Not necessarily the one you may have been taught, but what sort of "heaven" you personally would like to spend eternity in. It can be funny, but should really reflect what you would want.

For me, the ideal "heaven" would be:

1. No war! All conflicts would be settled through rational discussion and kindness, perhaps with a mediator or arbitrator.

2. An infinity of things to learn and do.

3. Lots and lots of laughter.

4. Lots of happy, deeply loved children.

5. And yes, lots of caring, loving sex! :)

6. As an old soldier, I would love it if there was a place where veterans of all wars and all periods of history could talk, share and tell each other lies. :D

7. Great food and drink would help too. :)

Mine would have lots of water to play in and the music would be so good it'd make you cry...

It would be like an eternal lucid dream.

In a lucid dream you can consciously change things in the dream world. For example if you felt like going for a drive, you just make the car appear. Some things would happen that are outside your conscious control, just to insert an element of randomness that keeps it from getting boring. An example of that might be that while you are driving you pass a hitchhiker and now must make a decision on whether or not to pick her up. Where the dream goes next is largely up to you, but with elements of randomness mixed in to keep it interesting.

Fascinating! I've had a few lucid dreams and they're a trip! I can remember thinking "Damnit, this is MY dream and I'll do as I damned well please!" :D

If my heaven was going to be a lucid dream, I would want it to be a dream which was constructed by many other people including me... I wouldn't want to be trapped alone in a world which I am the sole inhabitant, even if I was its god.

The people you interact with in the dream would seem to be real, but wouldn't. That's so if you decide to go on a killing spree one day you don't actually kill anyone else.

1: In my heaven, to start the day off right, we all smoke a bowl.
2: Work weeks don't start until Wednesday, and they end on Wednesday as well (meaning the same day).
3: Italian pastas and dishes grow on trees, while French foods grow on bushes. Chinese food also grows on trees, but these trees are usually found in your own backyard.
4: The day lasts 36 hours, with 10 hours of darkness for sleep.
5: 4 taps are readily available with Guinness, Aldo Conterno, Water and Mountain Dew.
6: Hangovers don't exist.
7: Everybody has infinite bandwidth.
8: All computers are infinitely fast.

Wow- No one has mentioned sex in their heaven. Or coffee??

describing my own personal heaven will get me forum banned. lets just say it involved A LOT of guys with long hair, and alcohol, I wont mention the hundred or so activities and props that could get me into trouble.

heaven for everone else? it would be like hell. no kids allowed either.

In objective philosophical terms (if that's possible), the ideal state of existence would be one of complete omnipresence and omnipotence. However, this would have terrible repurcussions as well, so instead I think the lucid dream idea would be pretty cool. Perhaps a pre-generated world, in which you largely had control over matter and existence but which could also be randomized and partially unknown.

You could design new games just by saying what you want, Without haveing to write the program or anything. You would describe it and it would apear.

No food would be bad for you. You could eat 24/7 and not gain one ounce.

Computers and video games would respond to your thoughts, no having to use keyboard or mouse.

You never get sleepy and do not need to sleep.

Lots of sex and NO VD!! no sickness of any kind no death.

In my heaven Westvleteren 12 would be found not only in its own bottles but in any container labeled 'Budweiser' much to the suprise and dismay of rednecks everywhere. Also, everyone would agree that Sweetwater Blue is the second best beer around.

Of course there'd be peace (maybe not in video games), sex, fun, and lots of good food too.
