Saw a tornado yesterday!

It was just a small one, but it had the darkest clouds I've ever seen! They warned us about it being on the way, but I had nowhere to hide and still can't walk without a walker or crutches, so the whole thing was moot.

The Tornado passed about a mile away from me and all I got to see of it were the dark clouds and part of the funnel cone. It was apparently moving pretty fast and I only got to see it for about two minues or so. I think they said it was moving at about 35 miles an hour but it seemed faster than that.

Pretty exciting! :)

*Looks up at the sky*

"Is that Eutrusca?"

"It looks like it... but what is he doing?"

"Looks like he's holding a camera. Is he mad?!"

"He must be."

*THUD*

"Oh dear..."

I have never seen one in real life-only on TV. I hope to keep it that way. Must be a thrill to be able to say you have seen one and not have lost anything-or anyone. Usually, by the time you see one, its already too late.

Dammit! I've never seen a tornado!

Been in the eye of a hurricane, though.

I saw one in Florida once. I also saw an area that just recently had one. One guy had a lawn ornement Santa Claus on his roof.

That's what I always thought too.

I've seen a funnel cloud here in UK. Seems they're quite common in the British Isles.
I'm saving for a Storm Chasing holiday in a few years, maybe for my 40th birthday... :)

Do you get many tornados where you live?

I'm in New Jersey on the shore-we rarely have a tornado here and when there is one, its on a very small scale-Thank God. We do get some harsh treatment from hurricanes in the fall, but nothing like the southeast.

When I used to live in Kansas City, Missouri when I was around 7 a tornado was about to form and just when it touched down it went back up into the sky. Those things are pretty scary. Since then I've moved to Miami, Florida and have been through several hurricanes. I prefer hurricanes to tornados.

Do you suppose that’s because us old farts are more observant than young pups, or because we have lived longer? :D

I've seen several of them, as they are quite common here in Oklahoma. I once saw two of them dancing around in the sky at the same time. That was really weird.

You need to move to a caravan park (or trailer park as they're called in your country). That's where the tornados always seem to strike.

Nah, it's just cos you've got more time to talk about it. :D

Sounds like an F1. Being stuck here in tornado alley(Kansas) you get to see your fair share.
