I am a white, teenage, female, non-heterosexual, liberal, feministic, bitch...

...and I'm proud of it. I'm getting sick of the "I am" threads, they just lead to more flaming and more arguments between people who are usually determined NOT to see things someone else's way.

If you have a problem with abortion, nobody's stopping you from bombing an abortion clinic or something. (Except common sense, maybe)

If you have a problem with gay marriage, you don't have to live in a state that allows it.

If you have a problem with religion, you don't have to practice it.

Maybe it's a naive teenager thing, but I don't really see why people can't get along with each other.

Run!! Run!!!

edit: and on your post, i also wish people would get along, but i think it's an inherent human trait to feel a need to disagree or impose your views on others. it's too bad, but that seems to be the way it is.

non-heterosexual?

You mean homosexual? Maybe bisexual?
Saying "non-heterosexual" makes you sound as uneducated as the yokels and bigots you [rightfully] disagree with.

If I have a problem with abortion... it's their problem, not mine. I may find it morally repugnant unless it is to save the mother's life. I also think that if you don't want to care for the child, you can just set him or her up for adoption instead. Or if you don't want to get pregnant, use better protection or abstain. However, you can't just stop people from making those choices. You have to let them deal with the consequences themselves.

If I have a problem with gay marriage, it is because the churches also have a right to say 'no, we will not marry a gay couple'. It is wrong to force the churches to sell out one of their religious beliefs for the sake of political correctness. Besides, if a gay couple wants to marry and have the same legal rights as a straight couple... so be it. They should be able to deal with the consequences of such a decision.

If you have a problem with religion, or atheism, or agnotics, then that's your problem. If one chooses a religion or lack thereof, one also has to deal with the consequences of making such a spiritual choice. One has to accept that if they make the wrong choice (if there is one), that they have to deal with the consequences.

Overall, I don't like to discriminate, even if I disagree with the point of view. However, I find that people who overly protest these things are not too willing to admit that if their viewpoint is wrong in some way, shape or form, that they are willing to take the consequences. For example, what if homosexuality was a one way ticket to hell? Hear me out... if it is (and we don't exactly know, but for this example, just listen)... then instead of saying 'we're not wrong, this is not wrong, no way no how this could be wrong', wouldn't a person in this situation be willing to risk the chance of suffering any social, spiritual or moral reprocusions that come up?

No, it's your problem. If you don't want an abortion, don't have one, or if you're a male, don't have sex with a woman who would. OK?

1. Gay marriage laws have provisions so churches don't have to marry gay couples if it goes against their beliefs.
2. You think that straight couples are somehow more prepared for marriage than gay couples or something? Honestly.

Psh, yeah right.

You've heard the saying about girls on the internet - 'Smart, Good-looking, single. Choose two.' I'd add 'actually a girl' to that list and make it 'choose three'.

nobody's stopping you from bombing an abortion clinic or something.Advocating illegal activities, even as a casual semi-sarcastic side comment, is against site rules, Zotana. Knock it off or risk worse than a hand-slap.
I'm getting sick of the "I am" threads,
Me too. As long as they have actual content, I'm willing to let them be. If they turn into spamfests, there are going to be locks and moves to spam and warnings issued based on the CopyKat ruling (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=405540).

This one started out looking like it had content, but it's rapidly devolving. If you spammers and underwear non-wearers want a tighter crackdown on General, just keep posting like you have been. If you want the excitement of free discourse in General, you might consider posting something other than spam.
