Simple question - what part of your life would you like the government to control?

Social? Or Economic? How bout both?

BTW, socialism involves government economic control, so all you lefties better not choose 'neither'

Assign Dogburg and Superpower07 (unless he's your puppet) to your cabinet.

I know - however I thought I'd start a thread with a title like that so I'd touch a nerve or two

I mean, all the socialists I've talked to never say (in simple plain language) that they want the government controlling their economic lives.

True, but they probably want a topic so they can passively flame us.

I feel that business must be regulated in a limited sense so it does not grow out of control...Everything else leave it be.

i appear to be one out of two people who voted that way, though

besides, the moral axis test is better overall

moral order = social issues

moral rules = economic issues

negative = less control , positive= more

I voted for economic control. And the Political Compass and Moral Axis tests used in conjunction are perfect.

In the current form of government, it should be. But, I do not support our current government OR its agendas.

Actually it doesn't. Real socialism means the workers own the means of production.

I was going to say economic but I changed my mind at the last second and voted neither, because I have the potential to become economically successful without the government's help. All of us do. It just doesn't feel like it sometimes.

not necessarily. for example, i don't anticipate the existence of an income tax at all in my conception of socialism.

To infer that all liberals are socialists and all socialists are liberals is an insult to socialism and liberalism. Fuck off for that.

Now, I would like more government control in my evonomic life, because the more taxes and services the government privides (healthcare, auto insurance, etc), hte less I have to pay greedy capitalist pigs for said services. I am a socialist. I am not al iberal, though.

Liberals often have this idea that the government should take care of them or "the less fortunate". While I agree that government assistane for people who cannot support htemselves is good, I do not think that I am somehow better than you because I am poorer than you. And I do not feel that the government can properly decide what sort of morals I need, or what is the correct amount of censorship.

In fact, I do not believe in censorship at all in the traditional sense, unless you are promoting violence against an individual or group of individuals.

And I am still a socialist.

Got it in one. :D

For some reason conservatives feel the need to start these threads against strawmen so they can finally win an argument. I guess it makes them feel warm and tingly.

Its kind of sad really.
