Bill Clinton.
i kinda limited it to people who were allowed to run. (while i highly doubt it, the governator is in question. re-re-elections are a no-no)
i gues if you made him vice prez, and a really, really old dude prez, he could be...
is that legal?
[edit] yea, i have no idea who they are, and no idea how to edit the last few poll options, even if i did know

Would definitely pick any of the names listed above, at least right now.
If I HAD to pick one it would be Howard Dean. He did some good things here in Vermont, and there could be worse picked (i.e Hillary, I mean how could she NOT have known about the affairs of hubby and how would this "look-the-other-way-itis" translate into foreign affairs: "OH sure,. Kim Il Jong, you have nukes, we know you have them, let's just not worry about that fact"
Frist or Santorum are two of my picks, but that's just off the top of my head.
(Edit) This is your friendly neighborhood nutjob checking in! None of the options listed on the poll were viable choices for me, so I treated it as "none of the above". But as a "right winger" being called a nutjob isn't bad, trust me, I've been called worse, MUCH worse! :P

Not that I knew a lot about the last US election race (me being in the UK), but I was really impressed with Edwards. With all the charisma that Kerry lacked and what seemed like an extensive knowledge for what he was actually talking about (ie. unlike Bush) he seemed to me to be a much better candidate than Kerry ever was.
He was, however, a lawyer, so maybe he's just an arrogant power hungry two-faced bastard that'll screw us all over first chance he gets :)

dunno just suggesting someone the right might like too see. It was meant as a question to see what the right thought about him. Being English i don't know much about him except that he's aparently better than george which then made me ask the question - Why isn't he pres now?

I'd like to see Arnold allowed to run. From what I've seen it would seem that I agree with him on most issues. Couple that with the fact that he's the kind of guy that isn't intimidated by trying to get things done and that he wouldn't necessarily be beholden to any special interests and you have a very strong candidate. If he were to take on the terrorism issue I think he'd be much, much better then George W. Bush at keeping his eye on the ball.
Basically he'd break any current Republican candidate and any Democratic candidate from the past, present, or future in half.
Edit: I just noticed how many people voted for Hillary Clinton. Obviously this forum is not an accurate cross section of the country. Wow, she's scary.

I've heard several Republicans talk about how they'd like to see Arnold run. The problem is, what sort of precedent are you setting if you amend the Constitution as an allowance for one person to run for President? If that happens, any naturalized citizen will have the right to run for President. The question that must be brought to bear is are we willing as a nation to make that change just so one person can run for President?
George Carlin/Denis Leary in '08.
Not sure about Carlin, but Leary (http://www.theadvocates.org/celebrities/denis-leary.html) would get my vote above the usual assholes in the running.

Ya, I can just see it now. "We're arresting all the street merchants and squeegie guys in the middle east, because as we learned under my tenure as mayor of New York, the kind of guy whose willing to break laws against squeegie wiping, and lessen the quality of life by filling up the street with their vending stands, well that's the kind of guy whose willing to steal an airplane and commit suicide to kill 3,000 people on the other side of the world."
While my personal political views are heavily towards the right, I'd prefer to see a centrist like Powel or Lieberman in the white house; I don't like the hostility between right and left that seems to be growing in America.
I don't think Lieberman is electable, due to his looks, unfortunately, leaving Powel.
Failing Powel, I'd like to see Rice as president someday, but its highly unlikely that she'll run in '08 (she's said she doesn't intend to).
Schwartzineger (spelling?) would probably be a decent president, but the constitution prevents it.
McCain, Frist, Rice, Powell, Guliani, Schwarzennagger are all of my choices.
Rice stated that she wouldn't run, although I think she's be an awesome president. Same with Powell. I have a feeling he'd be one of the best presidents ever. Guliani has nowhere near enough experience to run, even though he'd be pretty decent. Arnie can't run (shame, too, he'd win in a landslide), which leaves McCain and Frist.

Definetly not Rice, the lying bitch. Frist just palin sucks. He can't handle his current job, let alone president. I fucking hate Guliani, all he's done since he stopped being mayor is tow the party line so he can gain support. He's the one who blamed the troops for not finding WMD (As Jon Stuart put it, 'he supports the war, but not the troops.') At 63 he isn't particularly old for many politicians (Bush is 58). I do think he would be one of the best people for president and he has done a good job representing the people of Vermont since 1991 and still gets 69% of the vote. It would be good if other states could also be as sensible in choosing their politicians although most are unfortunately not as Liberal as Vermont.
