I heard on R4 this morning that kids these days love joy division, and top modern bands love joy division too. Is it true? Are you a kid that loves joy division? By kid i probably mean under 25.

Well I fit in your definition of 'kid' (I'm 20) and yes, I love Joy Division.

No one else I knoow seems to though :(

Although my sister is learning to love them (she likes New Order but not Joy Division).

I might recognise it if I heard it. But I tend to avoid the radio.

Joy Division is good. New Order was good too, but not as good as Joy Division, in my opinion.

"Joy Division?" They were a group of Jewish women who were kidnapped to be prostitutes, and if the SS officer didn't like her, she could be killed!

Nazi: But ja, I am likink zah Joy Division. Ees gut fun, eet ees.

(Joke Brigade runs by.)

Joke Brigade: Wenn ist das Nunstrück git und Slotermeyer? Ja! ... Beiherhund das Oder die Flipperwaldt gersput!

Nazi (Dying of laughter): Ha ha ha haaaargh... bleagh...

(Nazi coughs up blood and dies)

It's a good thing I can't read much German, otherwise The Deadly Joke would get me too!

I am very old (36). I am not an ex-suicidal-junky or an ex-darko-gothiko-vampire-like-misfit, but I always loved Joy division and New-Order. It is timeless music (for me! For others it is Pink Floyd, but I find them pompous ars-holes... My opinion only).

My question is aimed at the younger crowd who seems to like the older new-wave-underground-alterno-dark music of the eighties (yep, at the same time as some of the worst music ever had to offer!!!):

What are the music groups that brought you to Joy Division and New Order?
(I might be very interested to discover them).

Thanx

Joy Division is good. New Order was good too, but not as good as Joy Division, in my opinion.

Well, New Order is just Joy Division without the brilliant yet troubled influence of Ian Curtis (which im sure you knew already :)).

I first heard Joy Division when I was very young (10 or so - 29 now), although it was 5 yrs after Ians death it still influenced me greatly and it is good to see that a whole "new generation" is finding the same.
