Pablo The Squirrel

Disclaimer: any resemblance to actual woodland creatures alive or dead is purely coincidental
Once upon a time, a long time ago, Pablo the squirrel lived happily in the Barry forest with lots of friends and plenty of nuts. He was happy for years he had a comfortable place in a hollow tree and the forest was filled with the chatter of woodland creatures.
But... the ruling council grew weary of the chatter as it drowned out their discussions of important affairs of state... So the council decided that it was time to make some rules.... They made pointless chatter and loud screeching and name calling a crime aud banished some of the happy band of friends.
This made the other friends sad so some of them packed their spotted hankies and moved off to find a new place to play.
Well after a while they settled in a place they called Paradise...
The new forest soon filled with some of the old friends, and eventually some new ones... Soon Pablo had a comfortable place in a hollow tree and the woods were full of the chatter of young woodland creatures... and Queen Luna and King Reem hardly had to banish anyone.
And Then One Day
Some of the older creatures approached the King & Queen and said
"The woods are full of the chatter of young woodland creatures and they are drowning out our discussions on important affairs of state. We need a place where only we can go... to have our discussions... on important affairs of state."
King Reem agreed, and Queen Luna reluctantly agreed... and so the secret glade was decreed...
Unlike the rules in Barry forest the young woodland creatures were not even allowed to hear the discussions on important affairs of state... but they didn't seem to mind...
Pablo did mind... Pablo still remembered the times of banishing and the bad feelings but ... The older creatures said
"Pablo is the only one complaining"
"Pablo is just a wind-up merchant"
"They have the rest of the forest *shrug*"
They revelled in the new found freedom... They talked of the birds... They talked of the bees, they talked of how right they were to create their own place where the right kind of critter could hang out and discuss important affairs of state.
Pablo could see that he was alone in the way that he felt but he could not accept that it was right... He saw that their paradise was a Fools Paradise... So he went back to his hollow tree dug out his spotted hanky packed up his belongings and slipped away into the night.
