Save Toby

One of my friends showed me this site http://www.savetoby.com. I think it is really funny, but I know a few will take offense or least think that it is cruel. I'm sorry for that, but at least you know that you can save the cute bunny rabbit. I am not the person that made this website nor do I know the person that made it so don't even bother asking. I just thought some people would get a kick out of it.

It was on a previous thread.

First of all, never feel bad when someone does the 'old' thing to you...we can't all be all consumed by the net to be at the forefront of every little thing. It's just as likely that there where just as many, if not more, who hadn't seen it yet. A Toby thread hasn't been here in a long ass while. You really can just be happy that you get to see more of the sun then the people who waste time saying 'old' to threads...

Second. pfff-Toby can't GLOW!!! (http://www.ekac.org/gfpbunny.html)* Free Alva, the GFP Bunny!!!**

*Try the headline collider, it's interesting.

**Yep, it's old. So old that Alva is dead. Shake it off.

That I have seen here. And Cannot Think of a Name, I haven't been here that long, so they have been pretty recent, but, yeah I owe an apology.

Sorry Jagua, no insult meant. :(

Last I looked the site wasn't excepting anymore money. Maybe someone got on his arse and stopped it... if it was ever legit. I think it was a joke.. hope so anyway. Either way, I doubt he'd really kill Toby if he didn't get the price he stated.

Only $5000 or something when I first saw it. He's had enough donations to improve the website.
Fools. No-one's eaten pet rabbits since WWII, too much fluff, not enough meat.
It's taken, what two years to get this far? Toby hasn't a chance.

Last time I saw this, it was at $13,500.

Honestly, if I receive $20,000 by this next fall (September 21), I will never hunt again.

the money wasn;t from doantaions, it was for the sale of merchandise.

Also note: "The 'Balance:' figure which purports to showcase the amount already extorted (located near the bottom of the site's main page in a section labeled 'Premium Account Overview') is a fixed graphic, not a counter. It is periodically edited to increase the number displayed so as to maintain the appearance that folks actually are chipping in to preserve Toby's life. As of 1 March 2005, the amount shown was $16,380.18. "

How the hell does your wife come to know a mad Brazilian artist that is into all kinds of intervention and cyborg theory etc?

She runs a science art agency. We're also good friends with an alcoholic sculptor who works with nuclear fuel. And an artist who builds fake museums in places like Kew Gardens and the Natural History Museum.

(She has a much more interesting job than me. But I earn more, so :p to that.)

Just curious, as my wife is a lecturer in communications and has thus crossed paths with Eduardo Kac a few times, but we are in Brazil, which does make it more likely (Although he seems to spend more time in France than here now).
Being an alcoholic sculptor who works with nuclear fuel sounds like a rather short term career option. Dont invest too much effort in them.
