Well, I'd vote the Warhammer world.

Dungeons and Dragons isn't really a world per se.
Some D&D worlds could kick these other's asses, but without specifics I choose LOTR. The real winner would be discworld, though.

Middle Earth kicks arse and the weapons look awesome, though I do like the slayer of kings sword from Warcraft, that was made by Windless, full battle ready, nice. And then there are the Drizzt swords by Windless, niceness as well.

Warhammer would win.

Think... Brave and fanaticaly relegious Men of the Empire.
Ancient and wise Elves.
Endless hordes of bloodthirsty Skaven.
Innumerous Orcs uv da WAAAAAGH!!!
The Kings of Khemri, whose empire streched across an entire world.
The flesh eating, mercenary Ogres.

The list goes on and on.

Middle earth of what time may I ask?
If the elves of Gondolin and the evil empire of Morgoth (Sauron's boss) were allied, they would kick ass.

Otherwise I'd choose the Warhammer world...(40000 included?)

Yeah, but LOTR has most of those things too. Also, LOTR has various semideific beings (Gandalf, Sauron, etc.)

Actually, I would vote for the Belgariad. There's power there.

What about the Dragonlance-world?
They'd surely lose, but still...

All times legal.

And the gods of LOTR are krap.

Think about Sotek, warrior god of the Lizardmen, or Sigmar, who single-handedly destroyed many tribes of Orcs!

But no, 40k's not legal. It's not fantasy, it's sci-fi, and plus it would rule over Warhammer Fantasy, and Fastasy rules over ev'ry other world.

Ah Middle Earth would rock out. Like they said though, it would also depend on the time period. But still, if Gandalph and Saurumon and Morgoth and Sauron and the Elves of Gondolin and the Ents (can't forget them, especially if you go back to when there were more of them) and all the men (the guys with the Elephants too) and Orcs and all that, you know they would pwn. Oh yea, and the Eagles. Can't forget them. And the Dragons. Yea, Middle Earth pwns all.

That's the problem with this poll just saying "Dungeons and Dragons", it's more than one world. Do they mean Greyhawk? Dragonlance? Forgotten Realms? Eberron? One of the d20 settings made by others like Arcana Unearthed?

I know I've made D&D settings that could kick the ass of anyone listed, but I'm not sure they count.

Oh yeah, and what about Wheel of Time? I could see them winning easily.

LOTR has one huge advantage: Iluvatar is ominpotent! So it would win anyways.

SHREK would win out over WARHAMMER? Some people have no taste.

Well surely there's no doubt that D&D would win if you included ALL of the worlds but that would be cheating...

Just wondering, why are people picking Shrek? I could imagine them winning, it would make a funny movie, but still....

Sadly, Discworld has a quantifyable, therefore limited, supply of narritivium.

Dragon Ball Z would have to take it all, too much narrative imperitive. Goku is invincible, meets someone more invincible, becomes even more invincible and vinces the other guy. Wash, rinse repeat endlessly.

Yeah, but invincible people get vinced by vincible people in Discworld. No, that didn't make sense to me either.

In any case, Dragon Ball Z is not fantasy, it's porno, and even if it isn't it's still not fantasy. I hold with LOTR, as it has the only omnipotent being on the list.

Well considering that Warhammer FB and LOTR are pretty much the same universe anyways, look at the similarities for godsakes, I'm amazed they never got sued...I think it would be a pretty straight fight.

There is one thing though, in LOTR they said a huge army was around 30,000 Orcs (Urukai (sp?)), but in Warhammer, thats not such a bit army according to the literature surrounding it...so numbers might some down on Warhammers side...and both have supremely powerful characters and gods too so...

EDIT: Warhammer has omnipotent beings in its gods too, i mean the 4 gods of chaos could do some nice damage...

D & D has to win in the end, as it is limited only by the imagination of the players. The others are predefined worlds with limits.

No, no, it has to be Wheel of Time. Balefire and lightning, anyone? (Callandor+Balefire=whole cities destroyed per attack)

for that reason LOTR has to win. all the others have some sort of balance of skills, and luck and so on. But LOTR has a script, and in the script, it wins. So it wins.

While the chaos gods may be powerful, are they actually omnipotent? Because Iluvatar is basically a choral-director version of the Christian God. Not someone it's possible to mess with.

Actually, D&D is pretty limited - do you actually play it? It has strict mechanics to keep it running.

Hmmm, maybe not that powerful, but combined? Maybe...

Agreed, but only if you go that big and powerful though...if we keeping it to the more mundane (straight forward battles) i think Warhammer would have the edge.

But with enough power they disappear. The point is that in D&D you can technically have unlimited power (any god rank 21+).
If you include every D&D universe (which you don't) D&D wins because of Ballard. Ballard is an omnipotent being who is also a level 100 everything. I don't use him, but one of my friends keeps trying to include him in other people's worlds.

Hmmm...the problem is that if we limit it to "normal" battles we have no way of deciding. You're right, though, without gods Warhammer looks like the champion.
