I was demonstrating in Brussels on saturday for european social rights along with many europeans from every corners of Europe. I talked to people from Scotland, Spain and Germany.
The whole city was closed. There was more than 75 000 people. I can't believe the bbc doesn't say a word about it.

Does anyone know how to notify the bbc about it?

The Bolkestein directive is about applying the lowest common denominator for the social rights standards of the EU as a whole.

Indeed. In France, in Belgium and in Germany the big media talked about it, but the bbc didn't get notified it seems, or maybe it wasn't interesting enough for the bbc...

Yeah, I think the media is sort of becoming blase towards protests. "Oh, what are they complaining about now?"

But that's a big one, you think the BBC would up and notce, press release or not!

Last year the biggest march on Washinton ever happened. It was for reproductive freedom and had Gloria Steinem, Moby and Susan Sarandon speaking. Fox never mentioned it and CNN barely mentioned it. I only got to see it on C-Span, but it had over a million people.

maybe they thought 'bah, its on the continent, who cares?' just wondering how many pomes (prisoners of mother england, as us aussies refer to them) actually take the EU seriously....

The media is so screwed. Instead of real news we get to see stories about "How much beggars really make," "The youth running wild" and finishing off with a cute little story about a kitten that found its way home. Ugh. No wonder people are so unaware about the world around them.
