Want to throw this question out here. Do you have examples in your own life. Maybe even someone close to you. That has used there race, gender and or religion to get something that you know wasn't deserved. I am just curious how much of this happens.

never pusposfully do I use any of these things.

but I suppose being male is how I use my gender to attraact hetero females

:p

I sometimes suspect that cops dont bother me very often because I am white, but it's not like I use that to my advantage on purpose.

What about you?

I've never used any of those things to "get my way", though I witnessed many people do so back in my public school days.

What does it mean to deserve something?

Survival of the fittest baby!!!... In my opinion, if you can get it, you deserve to have it. If that means lying/cheating/stealing to get your way- then more power to ya.

Oh, and to answer the question, no I don't know of any situation where a person's intentionally used thier _________ to get a major thing that they want.

Can't say I have.

Maybe I've used my Irish heritage to excuse my angerment issues...but that's about it. :p

I've known a few people who unjustifiable scream racism when things don't go their way. But these are far rarer than those who face real racism. As far as gender , I use it all the time. I get out of tickets, get free drinks, get guys to change tires for me. I guess when guys stop thinking I need the help or am unable to do these things, I'll have to give it up. But I don't really feel guilty for it. I consider it a perk somewhat equalizing the other crap I put up with.
But when it comes to things that make a real difference, I don't play this card. I never asked for spousal support when I got divorced, and I registered for selective service when I turned 18. I take those things willingly offered by individuals. Is this hypocritical? I'll let people make up their own minds.

Sisters have used being female as an excuse to not do work. Parents have some thing about girls and love 'em dearly. However, since I am male and get the shaft when they use this "reason", I usually end up doing what they wiggle their way out of. Personally, I haven't attempted to use being male/caucasion(partially Native American)/nonreligious to get what I want. I try to earn what I can get.

Ha! It was the opposite at my house. My brothers never had to do housework.

Wow, that's fucked up.

But my dad has a very screwy view of things. He thinks that a house MUST be cleaned EVERY DAY. This means vacuuming the floor, cleaning the toilets, the sinks, the bathtubs, the kitchen, the driveway, and the car. Every fucking day.

But, I don't do it, because it's bullshit. Today I vacuumed for the first time in a week. And I haven't cleaned out the car in over a month. Fuck his bullshit ideas, I say.

You shouldn't live by how clean your house is. He does, and he says that anybody who doesn't keep a spotless house is trash.

Are you, by any chance, an anarcho-primitivist?

I've heard of many examples of this but only personaly know of two. Both were instances where women had used their sex to gain promotions or pay increases.

I rarely notice people using race or religion to get their way, but gender yes. I notice girls using the fact that they are female to get their way/stuff. Guys probably do it too.

Sounds like my ex. :p
Not only did my sister and I do almost all the housework, I was the one dad always got to work on the car with him.
My brothers did very little in the house, but did take turns mowing the lawn. My sister and I did all the cooking and laundry for the household. We did all the kitchen work, except my step-mother cooked on Sundays. Also on Sundays we did big housecleaning, all the hard scrubbing. My brothers had to help then. My dad only worked on the car and supervised yard work. When major yard work had to be done, everyone helped. Especially when we cleared land to build a new house. The part that sucked was dad got the chainsaw and everybody else got hand axes.

I once got a free drink I didn't want.

Some guy kept asking to buy me one and I kept saying no and he kept asking. So I said fine, got a shot and walked off.

Once my bf and I were arguing in a bar and I cried a little and the bartender brought me tissues... I'm not sure if he'd have done the same if it was a guy crying... if guys ever actualyl cry in bars...

I know many girls who hit me just because they know I won't hit back.
Does it count as hitting a girl if you use a gun?

I like to use the fact that I'm Muslim to make sure people stay out of my way in public places. Does that count? Playing on irrational fear?

Heh. Carry a large suitcase, and you'll get a subway carriage all to yourself.
Bloody hell, people are so paranoid these days.

I'm sure being a white, middle-class, Christian male has afforded me several benefits throughout my life, but I've never deliberately used my privilege to get something I wasn't due. I can't say I know anyone who has, either.

A slightly lumpy vest and a turban will get you to the front of the line in almost any grocery store in the US and I've actually had whole movie theaters practically to myself for the same.

I find it hilarious ... sadly hilarious.

Very funny. If people stay out of your way because of that, they deserve the inconvenience.

I guess the stupidity of people has some advantages.
Frankly, I find Christians more worrying, but trying to convert Jehova's witnesses is amusing.

I dunno? Am I? I'm not personally a huge fan of labels.

If I said that my theory on "deserving" didn't apply when your lie/cheat/stealing imposed harm on someone else, would your appraisal of me change?
