I've wondered why someone didn't make this long ago. I'm no computer genius, but as I understand it this program works as a registry 'guard dog' telling you each time a program wants to do a suspect activity, and suspending it until you approve.

It sort of pre-empts spyware with this feature. Most spyware programs only scan. A simple change to a spyware program makes it 'invisible' until the scan software is updated. It does not take long until the scan software becomes so large and bloated that a system scan takes hours.

I think Scotty is a good idea, any thoughts from the techies?

Spybot S&D comes with a program called Teatotaler which does the same thing. It can be kind of annoying because of the sheer number of dialog boxes that pop up when you install new programs.
Its difficult to tell bad registery settings from good one's anyway, maning that most casual users will just find it annoying.

.
Could it not be disabled when you are installing proper software? (That purchased from a reputable vendor)

No spyware problems with a MAC? Why?

Cause you're too busy trying to find software for it to worry about spyware.

The software for a Mac is alreadt provided when you buy one. You don't need any other software. Macs don't fall apart on you.

I knew I should have gone with my first instinct and bought a Mac. Now I have to live with this DELL - and I hate it!!! I had better luck with my 'all-in-one' Gateway.

My favorite of these is The Cleaner (http://www.moosoft.com)'s Active Process Monitor. The Cleaner itself, you only get 30 days free (during which it proves it's probably worth the $50 it costs), but the side-programs, such as said active process monitor, are free forever.

Because Mac OS requires the user to approve any programs installed on the computer, and tells you that it's running them.

It's smart that way.
