I think it is a World Heritage sight so i dont think you can bring it up its like building a Cigarette factory at Auscwitz!

Build a new one and the Britanic and Olympic!

Polls should always be public!

The ruins of the old Titanic should be destroyed with torpedoes because that would be neat.

A new Titanic should be built as a fully functional ship in Arizona, but used as a land-locked hotel, and should never sail.

IS entering 'RMS Titanic' into Google Image search beyond your capabilities?

I can only quote the president of the film company that produced the movie Raise The Titanic when faced with the ever spiralling costs of the movie - It would have been cheaper to lower the Atlantic.

the first thing they should do is do something to commemorate where the Titanic was built...

at the minute its just a large expanse of waste land

the Titanic (along with its sister ships) was one of the most elegant and beautiful ships ever...it just looked right, and it was so luxurious...

yet the place that built her seems to have forgotten her...

A new Titanic would be nice, but it'd have to be thoroughly modern. Making an exact replica would be rather stupid.

Building an 'unsinkablke' ship that sinks on its maiden voyage is hardly an engineering achievement to actually be proud of though, is it... but then given our culture's habit of turning such travesties as the Somme into badges of honour and pride such an action wouldn't be unheard of.

Now I thought I heard that a new Titanic was supposed to be built. Commissioned on the aniversary of the firsts sinking. That was ages ago. Don't know if it ever took off the ground.

Harland and Wolff never claimed it was unsinkable, nobody ever did...some newspaper claimed it was "practically unsinkable" and the practically very quickly got forgotten about

and either way, it was still a great engineering achievement...just a pity it took an English captain to sink it ;)

What is the big deal about the titanic? Many other ships sunk before and after it so stop wasting my time by saying oh they just found a _____ on the titanic. Have salvagers do whatever and then blow it up in a fiery explosion or send a plugged in toaster. If you worry about the fish that live in there and dont want humans to destroy their habitat remember we created their habitat and they are fish.

Besides the titanic had numerous warnings that they never listened to.

Bring the bastard up, stick in a mueseum and charge people to see it. Isn't that what happens with most discoveries?

Build a new Titanic, but make an adventure voyage where the ship hits a fake ice-berg (made from Paper-Mashe) and goes into a controlled sinkage...
some people may die, but those who don't will get a 'I survived the Titanic' T-Shirt...

Was that thing about a guy who wrote a story about a giant ocean liner called the 'Titan' that sank, before the Titanic existed, true? I always wondered about that.

...that was a horrible sentence.

Yes it was true, Futility by Morgan Robertson - its a moderately entertaining short novel. If it hadn't been for the coincidence of names though it would now be long forgotten.
