No, when we lose soccer it will be, "Well, yeah. Don't we always?" Unless its the womens team. They kick ass. And take thier shirts off when they score. (Lost points for that, didn't I?)

I mean really, America losing a match in soccer is miles from Man Bites Dog. If we make it past the first round, thats news.

After a quick googling:

NEW DELHI (AP) - India's cricket board on Saturday sold the satellite television rights for the India-Pakistan cricket series to Sony Entertainment Television for US$11.5 million (?8.8 million), a news report said.

Keep in mind that in cricket is by far the most popular sport in India, and India has 1/6th of the worlds population.

Maybe for people who're raised around the thing, but you see, I grew up watching American Football. I spent Sundays watching John Elway (and occasionaly Dan Marino, though I never was a big Dolphins fan) and the Denver Broncos. Such great games throughout the 90's.

Cricket is probably a fun sport to play... But I'm into the fast-paced, hard-hitting, strategic nature of Football.

Strategy is one thing cricket does have. I'm quite a big fan, so I find it a good way to waste away a few warm summers days (with the right amount of beer, ofc). Then in the winter, it's all about rugby.

Played soccer from the age of 7 (Very early for that time in the U.S. about 1972.) PLayed through high School. Got to college and didn't pass the collegiate physical. Was kidnapped by the Rugby team because it was just a club sport. Loved the change of pace and on the fly play call.

Baseball has been played for many years in Japan. It is very popular in the Western Atlantic countries, heck, half the pitchers seem to be from the tourist islands.

American football is now played in England. American footbal is a derivative of Rugby. Too many college kids were getting killed in the free-for-all games around the turn of the Century. They added pads to help keep down the deaths and serious injuries. They didn't forsee the change in attitudes that would strike the sport soon afterward.

Soccer, gentlemen's aport played by hooligans.

The nature of soccer makes it difficult to cover for TV without a vast number of cameras. In the U.S. it just doesn't gain enough of an audience and so the productions seem disjointed. We are used to a certain type of TV coverage, mostly because American football is very kind to television coverage.
