Allow myself to introduce...

Mlle Juliette
19-03-2005, 08:46
...myself. :D

I just wanted to meet the other posters on this forum... I'm Juliette, but some people call me Jules (or Jule). I'm 21 and currently working on my Master's of Fine Arts - I tend to focus on sculpture, photography, and drawing (occasionally incorporating all three in one piece). I love dancing and meeting new people and enjoying life, in general.

*shrugs* I'm actually pretty tired now, and may be heading to bed soon, but I'll definitely check this thread tomorrow and respond to any questions - also, looking forward to getting to know you all!

I'm Mark. I have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and an additional major in Mathematics. I'm currently homeless, unemployed and have no insurance, but I'm happy with that. I've got my computer, and that's all I really need.

Evidently, my "location" is wrong. That's where my parents live, but I haven't been there in over a month.

Hi Pythagosaurus! Do you go by any nicknames?
Lots of 'em. This particular screenname usually leads to "Pytha" or "Py". All of my other screennames lead to similar sorts of things.

In real life, most people call me Mark or some variant of my last name (which is long and hard to pronounce, so there are about 30 of those). Still, others call me things that seem to have no motivation whatsoever: Steve, Gomer, Fred, Panama Jack.

And of course I've heard of the Sex Pistols, but can't say I've ever seen a pic before. I enjoy their music though - but I'm terrible at names, so couldn't tell you which songs!

It's a pic from their 1977 Scandinavian Tour. Great stuff. And since you don't exactly know the song names... How about a list of everything they wrote?

Did You No Wrong - 1972, written as "The Strand"
Lazy Sod (aka Seventeen) - 1974, written as "The Swankers"
Pretty Vacant - 1975, written as the "Sex Pistols" (note that hereafter all songs are written as the Sex Pistols)
Satellite - 1975
Flowers of Romance - 1975, used as a "wake-up call" for the audience
Liar - 1975
I Wanna Be Me - 1975
Anarchy In The U.K. - 1976
No Feelings - 1976
No Future (aka God Save The Queen) - 1976
Belsen Was A Gas - 1976, written by Sid Vicious
New York - 1976
Sub-Mission - 1976
Problems - 1976
E.M.I. Unlimited Edition - 1977
Holidays In The Sun - 1977

Songs written for the Sex Pistols, but used in John Lydon's group, Public Image Limited, after the Sex Pistols disbanded...

Public Image - 1978, written by John Lydon
Religion 1 - 1978, written by John Lydon
Religion 2 - 1978, written by John Lydon
Lowlife - 1978, written by John Lydon
Attack - 1978, written by John Lydon

That should about do it! Oh yeah, almost forgot...!

It's Public Image Limited! John's the one with the golden hair.

Juliette, its a pleasure to meet you! I am at once taken by your name!

My name here in the forums is Lascivious, but you can call me Lasc. for short, or if you prefer it, Lyle (which is my real name). I am a 24 year old engineering technologist specializing in structural design. Currently I reside in the small community of White Rock, a suburb of Vancouver, Canada. I am very interested in architecture, hot-rods, philosophy and of course, my Canadian staple sports: snowboarding, wakeboarding, hockey and the consumption of copious amounts of beer (hey, its a sport in Canada!!).

Do you have any pictures of your artwork? Id love to see them if you do! You can IM me on AIM or MSN, its always nice to meet new people... in particular ones that I suspect have been blessed with a charmingly sexy French accent! ;)

Bonsoir, Lasc! Très enchantée, je suis sûre!

I love architecture - one of the reasons I love to visit new cities is looking around at the buildings around me and seeing how they interact with each other and the people.

I enjoy watching hockey, and like to go skating in the winter. In warmer weather, I swim (I'm particularly fond of swimming in ocean waves) and rollerblade.

Of course, art is my passion - I'll try to get some pictures uploaded!

Mon dieu, it's quite difficult to keep up with all of you!

Salut, Juliette! :p

(I know a little French, but i'm pretty terrible...and I can't top Lasc for charm, so i'm not even going to try :D )

I'm Chris. I'm 18 and I live in Melbourne, Australia. I study Arts at university, play the guitar poorly, work in a supermarket, spend a great proportion of my time here, and I can't remember what else I do. Uh, that's me. :)Salut, Chris! What kind of arts do you study? Are you doing fine arts, art history... the black arts? ;)

My dear, I do say, we have a G to tha P.I.M.P. here. But I must confess that as a Spaniard I am probably more alcoholic than you are. But that should be considered a vice.

And hello Julie, I'm Jon...meh...Hola, Jon! Eres de España? And what are you talking about... the Spanish aren't alcoholic!! They just have beer for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and then some lovely after-dinner drinks (mmm... 43 y coke!), that's all! And, you know, some beers throughout the day for refreshments...

Hey, I'm half-Irish. Perhaps I could beat you both?
Hey, let's see who can get their blood alcohol content highest without passing out! Round of Jello shots!

...oh, right...introducing self...

Umm, yeah. Hi Juliette. I'm Stephanie, and you're prolly not into women, so I won't bother with the charm. Meh, I don't charm people anyway. I'm more likely to spout random phrases at them in foreign languages. Then they get very confused and walk away, usually.Hi Stephanie! Say, you have any Jello shots left? If I have enough of 'em, I might very likely be into women as well as men!! ;)

Hi Juliette

I'm Sylvia. I'm 14 and i'm at school and incase you care my subjects are: Maths, Physics, Chemistry, English, Music and i'm doing a hospitality course. I'm interested in pretty much everything from sport to music to acting to chess to NS to (insert anything here)... you get the picture... Nice to meet you anyway! Oh and i'm 1/2 English 1/2 Latvian...Hi Sylvia! It's lovely to meet you! I didn’t know one could take hospitality courses – is that for work in the hospitality industry? Or to be a good hostess?

Damn that charming Lascivious ;)

Hey Jules, I'm Spaam :D

I'm 22, studying my Masters Of Teaching at Sydney University (Australia!), and am anywhere between the 4th and 1st hottest guy here ;)Hello Spaam! How do you know you’re between the 4th and 1st hottest guy here? Just curious… also curious about who the other hottest guys are! ;) Well, I think I may have met many of them on this thread!! Anyway… I’ve never been to Australia, but it’s one of the top 10 places I want to visit!
hi Jules, i'm Huw (call me PM ), i'm 19 and am studying a BscEcon in Politics at Cardiff (that's in Wales )

w00tHi PM! What does that mean, a BscEcon in Politics? Being an artist, I know less than I should about such subjects!

Ah, well, I'm John, a pleasure to meet ya. 18 years old...going into Elementary Education...and...erm...I'm a witch.*nods* Hey John! You seem to be quite talented… and I bet if you can manage to do all that while teaching, your students will be eating out of the palm of your hand! Or if not, you can always just place spells on them to make them behave. ;)

I'm half-Spanish, my mother being Spanish, and my fater being gringo. Oh yes, not alcoholic indeed! We're just the nation with the most marcha.

Both of those like any art, and since I'm sure that your art is manifold times as better as some of the stuff which people put out (for example, blank canvas sold for a million...that deserves a what the ----) France would be great in terms of success.

I observe NS but rarely post. I like to read what people think about whats going on in the world and this board seems to attract those who are most opinionated (at least the NS crowd has an opinion). Most often, what I read scares me but occassionally I find someone with a clue.

Yeah, online political discussions can turn nasty. That's when Moderators are needed.

Your friend can fill you in on the details, but remember that we Moderators don't censor political debate except to discourage or punish personal attacks against other players. You're going to come across viewpoints drastically different from your own, so discussions are going to get very heated; you have to remember to attack the argument, not the player.

Also remember to remain calm if another player attacks you. Personal attacks are always discouraged, but mild stuff is (at most) merely going to get a stern look from a Moderator and a reminder to remain civil. So, if you can let the mild stuff flow off of you like water off a ducks back, then that would be great. Some posters come to us complaining about every single little thing, and while it's certainly not nice stuff by any reasonable measure, it's not always quite in need of Moderator attention.

Basically, personal attacks, once started, sometimes show a pattern of bouncing back-and-forth between players and escalating (though I'm guessing that you've seen this on other online forums). All I'm saying is: Avoid starting that cycle, and if you get caught in a cycle started by someone else, then don't perpetuate it.

Again, welcome to NationStates. Enjoy your stay. :)

The best drink in the summer time is a Josiah's Bay Float (http://www.happyvalley.plus.com/tipple/josiahsbayfloat3.JPG)

I've two pineapples at home and will be making my two inaugural floats of the season this coming weekend!! :)

Josiah's Bay Float

1 pineapple
50ml Bacardi Gold
25ml Galliano
50ml pineapple juice
25ml lime juice
4 teaspoons sugar syrup
Champagne
Ice

lime, lemon, cocktail cherries, papaya, mango, and a little umbrella to decorate (so cheesy looking, you just know its gooood!!)

Put 8 to 10 cracked ice cubes in a cocktail shaker. Pour over the rum, Galliano, pineapple juice and sugar syrup.
Shake vigorously.
Strain into a scooped-out pineapple shell and top up with champagne.
Stir gently. Decorate and serve with straws. Enjoy! :)

(I cheated and stole the recipe and pic from an online source, they can look much better than the one in the picture... that poor unwitting chap has no sense of summer style! :p )

(Your laughing now aren't you. Don't deny it. I saw you.)

Oh! Tu es revenue! Je suis heureux maintenant. :)

:fluffle:

...myself.

Hi. What are you wearing?

Hi Sylvia! It's lovely to meet you! I didn’t know one could take hospitality courses – is that for work in the hospitality industry? Or to be a good hostess?

Yeah, it's for part time hospitality work... waitressing but not cooking... i can't cook, im too accident prone...

Travail? Pendant le weekend? Dommage! (Quel type de travail fais-tu?)

I'm preparing for a competitive exam I'll be taking in a few days which, if I get through, will be a big step towards my eventually becoming a university lecturer (probably in 20th century Commonwealth cultural studies, but I'm still not entirely decided on that).

Tu fais des sculptures souvent? :)
En quel matériau? Tu as des images de ton oeuvre?
