let us dicuss and compare and contrast to the nations of the modern world :)
I can really see this sort of thing happening now, in the not so distant future.
The three states would be the industrial centres of the world: North America, Western Europe and East/South Asia.
Very far fetched and highly unlikely, but possible.
1984 was satire against Stalin's USSR. The parellels between the two are obvious - the cult of the leader, his posters everywhere, benefits for members of "the party" while the proletariat get less, secret NKVD-like police, nationalized everything, and in some film adaptions of the book, Big Brother even has a big, bushy moustache.

Sure they do. People in Cuba who have money do great. Its the poor people who are screwed. I know someone who is planning to move back to Cuba.
