What I want to do then is take the ten most mentioned and make a poll out of it.

Celes from FFVI. Formerly an Imperial General she teamed up with "the good guys" and sang in the opera, one of the best scenes in RPG-history ever. ;)

For sheer style, nobody can top Barrett, or however you spell the name.
For quality/depth of character... Squall is an obvious choice, but I think I'll go with Sephiroth, just because.

Setzer Gabbiani (sp?).

Not really a deep character, but he held the fate of the entire world in his hands. Just think about what would've happened if he decided not to let them use his Airship...

Sephiroth, and Shadow as a close second.

Red XIII/Nanaki. I think he's the most beautiful, noble character I've ever seen in an RPG, and whilst certain incidents involving certain flower girls only worked the first couple of times, Nanaki howling alongside Seto still makes me weepy today, after over 20 viewings.

Hmm...fav FF chara. Would have to be Auron from X, even though m favorite game OF ALL TIME ANYWHERE is VII. Auron's characterisation and voice were just so awesomely magnificent that it defies description. Too bad the rest of the game bordered on mediocrity. Except for LuLu's tits, of course.

Cloud (VII)

Don't really have one...

My fav I suppose isn't really a main char, hes the guy you meet in the comm tower and in the prison in FF8, Major Biggs or something, lol that guy was funny, the way he kept getting demoted until eventually he just left to go fishing..rofl!!!

Quistis from FF8, Aeris from FF7, and Terra from FF6; all in a three way tie. I just couldn't decide between either of them.... They're all unique ones in each of their storylines, but then again, every character has a unique part in Final Fantasy.

Oh! and Farris from FF5. The girl pretending to be a pirate. :)

xDD Whilst I can't deny Lulu's ample breasts, general hotness, and the whole Goth look was awesome, I do actually love her and Wakka for plenty more reasons. If FFX had been about those two instead of Tidus and Yuna, I'd still be playing it today.

Wakka was an annoying arse. His annoying personality, much like Tidus', was only matched by his fashion sense.

Garnet is pretty cute too.. oh and her "mother" Queen Brahne mohaha.. with a bandit mask...

I never liked Squall much, he's so difficult :p

Rinoa is too cutsy, but Edea and Ultimecia are cool. The other chars in FF8 are rather mediocre.

FF7 almost completely sucks balls, but I think Sephiroth was pretty good.

The earlier FFs were too old for me to really like the characters and their development. I just can't relate much to the pixelated characters of the SNES versions of Final Fantasy.

I stopped playing FF after 9, since I don't have a PS2 and Square are too moronic to release PC versions of their games - damn idiots, screw them.

Ouch...can't agree with you there. While 8 definately had the best characters, (10 comes close) 7 had and still has the deepest storyline of any game ever. I'd explain it but I don't have the time to do it justice. Try to find a good one on the internet. It's amazing.

However I am going to for a minor character and so Bugenhagen (the guy from Cozmo Caynon in FFVII). His death scene is really quite upsetting.

Cid in his many reincarnations, tends to be a laugh when you compare them to each other:

Cid the rough and rude pilot
Cid the erstwhile and under developed Headmaster
Cid the ever shape shifting ruler of a city
Cid the foreign cult leader

My Absolute Favorate is got to be The Main Charicter in FF7 or Zach from the same one, Zach was the Guy that Cloud had the emotional about. Zach was the one that saved Cloud from Compony. He was killed buy the blue unifored guys.

Nah, don't be comparing Tidus and Wakka. Tidus was a whiny punk who didn't know up from down, Wakka was a devoutly religious person who got confused because something he had believed in with every last ounce of breath turned out to be false. That's excuse enough for someone to be a bit angsty IMO. xD

And don't diss the blitz outfit, either!

Heh...Zell reminds me of my little brother. I liked him when Seifer kept pissing him off, but after that his character kinda died off. Not completely, and for this FF8 rocks, but Zell was at his best flipping out at Seifer.
