Have you ever thought about transferring your vinyl albums onto your computer? It is actually a simple and painless process. Right now, I am in the process of putting The Marshall Tucker Band onto my computer. Really, all you need is a record player, records, a 1/4" to 1/8" cable, a sound card, and audio recording software. Assuming you already have the records, record player, and a computer with a soundcard, just go to Radio Shack and pick up a short 1/4 to 1/8th inch cable. A free audio recording program called Audacity can be downloaded from this site (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/). Now all you need to do is put your record player close enough to the computer, put the 1/4" plug into the record player's headphone jack and the 1/8" plug into the line in port on your soundcard. Then open your audio program, start recording and start playing the record. The record will be transferred in stereo to your audio program, where it can be saved as a wav or mp3 file and transferred to a CD. It is as simple as that. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me. Remember, the quality of the audio depends on the record, record player, cable, and your sound card. But unless you are a serious audiophile, you will not be bothered by any pops, hisses, or clicks caused by the cable or the soundcard. Good luck.
