CHIBA — A substance in hops, part of a type of hemp plant used in brewing beer, has been found to neutralize a bacterial toxin believed to cause stomach cancer, researchers said Thursday.

The researchers from Chiba University's medical school and Asahi Breweries Ltd will report their findings on the effect of the substance on helicobacter pylori at a meeting of the Japanese Society for Bacteriology in Tokyo in April, they said. (Kyodo News)

I don't think that there is anyone who is doing new research on bacteriology who isn't: working in the dairy industry (Cheese, yoghurt and so on): working in the alcohol industry: or a student. That's a shame.

Yes, you're right. It just seems as if all the bacterial research these days is only being done for profit. Well hurray for capitalism because if this research wasn't being driven by corporations after a bigger profit then I doubt there would be even this level of research.

Perhaps there would only be just a guy in a military lab or garage somewhere mixing up some ebola.
