Sure they do. I've worked political campaigns before and had some effect in a close district race. So I guess every election cycle, our opinions have some impact for a short while. ;)

There should be an option: "Yes: But rarely on the Internet."
The internet's mostly a junk heap of information, often far out of context, not a place to learn.
Except maybe Oyez.org and Snopes and all those. Those are helpful.

to be fair we will never know how much our opinions matter because we don't have the benefit of hindsight. We will never know how much effect our opinions matter because if we use them we don't know what will happen if we don't and vice versa

Abit of both and neither. Usually I do a pretty good job convincing people of stuff. Sway people a little (every vote counts).
But like on the internet, if they don't come with an open mind from the beginning. THeir not going to listen anyhow.

Opinions on the internet are rarely changed, rarely listened to, rarely acknowledged and frequently disrespected. Expressing your opinion on the internet is all well and good if you're after an argument, but it doesn't really do any good to anything. Your opinion is important elsewhere, but here they don't have any impact on anything, and most people seem to disregard them anyway.

We post our opinions on the internet to be thoroughly tested by everybody else.
Plus it helps our debating skills.

Yes. You'd be surprised at how much hell I can raise when something really pisses me off! Mwahahaha! :D
As the old saying goes...
"Opinions are like a**holes...everyone has one."

Opinons are at the end of the day pretty much worthless to anyone other than yourself, unfortunately.
Actions are what count, and, over the internet, that's pretty much impossible (apart from those e-masturbation periperals I saw once on TV).

Pfft! Hardly.
However to me the important thing is getting enough information together in order to be able to have an opinion about something, anything.

my opinions don't matter to anyone else but myself. if other people choose to take an interest in them, or think they matter, then that's great.
my opinions matter to me, but i doubt if anybody else cares

Thank you, Pepe. That's the option I would choose, too.
EDIT: Not to mention the horrendous amount of misinformation that is copied and copied and copied around.
PPS: Yes, my opinions always matter ...to me.

Only on certain subjects. There are certain topics that I think people could accept me as an 'expert opinion' and certain subjects that I think people would take my opinion with a grain of salt. If at all. *nod*
