I was just wondering, I know that everyone has atleast one person that they idolize, so I was wondering what was your guys'.

Just Post a picture of the person, and a short reason why you idolize them, and if possible include a site where we can read up on the person. And please keep the people real...

Gaius Octavius: Known as Augustus Caesar

Augustus Caesar IS my idol, because of his great manipulating abilities and his ability to rule a large empire and keeping it in relative peace. Yes he was the first Emperor of Rome, but he was smart and knew what he wanted and knew how to get it. I also strongly agree with his morality crusade.

My idol is George Carlin. I hope one day I can be as honest as him.

I would also have to say MSgt Gary Gordon and SFC Randall Shughart are my idols as well. If you don't know they were two US-SOCOM Delta Force snipers that received the Medal of Honor after fighting an dieing in the Battle of Mogadishu, Somalia. I think they warrent everyones respect.

Okita Sōshi (http://www.toshizo.com/gif/okita.gif) (1844-1868) and Tokugawa Ieyasu (http://images.google.com/images?q=tbn:DjFIWMRUHesJ:www.islands.ne.jp/imabari/hito/2_taka/photo/ieyasu.jpg) (1543-1616). This (http://www.zainin.com/Okita/bio.html) is what I could come up with, since I couldn't find any of the sites I really wanted to put up here, including not only Okita but information on Bakumatsu. There is much more (http://www.samurai-archives.com/ieyasu.html) reputable information on Ieyasu. Besides that Ieyasu was much more influential historical figure than Okita, certain media have popularised amateur interest in fedual Japan. Tokugawa Ieyasu is introduced to westerners in James Clavell's Shōgun as Toranaga, and Okita Sōshi through the largest medium of anime, especially Rurōni Kenshin. They are both incredible men, and I highly suggest looking more into these truly superhuman persons.

They're not really idols, but I've always looked up to Emma Goldman, because she had some really good ideas, and I like her ideology, and she fought for what she believed in. Also George Orwell, he's an amazing author and journalist, and like Goldman, had good politics and stood up and fought for what he believed in.

Jim Rogers
http://www.theadvocates.org/celebrities/jim-rogers.JPG
Went around the world on a BMW motorcycle and the company of a very attractive woman half his age.

Then he went around the world in a specially modified Mercedes SLK and the company of a different very attractive woman, also half his age.

Oh and he made a gigantic fortune via an international hedge fund. Also something of a libertarian. I suppose a good place to read up on him would be http://www.jimrogers.com/

Lenin. Not only was he a hero and a genius, he was also one of the few men who could make a bald head look really good!

Benjamin Franklin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benjamin_Franklin)

America's first Renaissance Man. A genius that could do everything. Theoretical physics, inventions, writing, publishing, diplomacy, statecraft, revolution, even getting the babes. The man could do anything he put his mind to.

As a side activity, he founded the University of Pennsylvania, one of the Ivy League colleges.

And engaged in flame wars by printing press. :D

I like their cover of Heavy Metal Shuffe better (we'll leave Paint It Black to the Stones). Its fast, with some amazing guitar riffs.

I don't really think of it as idolizing, but here are some key figures-
William S. Burroughs (http://www.kirjasto.sci.fi/wbburrou.htm) (not the greatest website, and doesn't really sum up what his writings mean to me.)
Lenny Bruce (http://www.freenetpages.co.uk/hp/lennybruce/) (again, not great, but has some audio samples on it)
Can't really do those without including Jack Kerouac (http://www.jackkerouac.com/index.php)
Eric Dolphy (http://adale.org/Eric.html) (a third in a series of substandard sites, but again contains music samples.)
Theres more but I'm tired of doing google searches. You get the idea...

My father is my idol. Despite being disabled in Vietnam, he did his damndest to provide my sister and I a quality life after my mother passed away when I was seven. He trucked on, and I hope to truck on, too.
