What is your greatest fear?

Khudros

I ask this without jest. What is it you fear most in life? And how have you dealt with or not dealt with it? Do you see fear as a challenge to be conquered, as a weakness to cover over, or perhaps as a weapon to wield?

As for me, I do not fear death so much as I fear insanity. To me the slow destruction of one's soul as the mind collapses upon itself, descending into the abyss of madness, is a fate infinitely worse than a quick and sober termination would be. It is something that can take hold of you without you knowing so, and compell you to commit the most vile and heinous of acts. For me insanity is the highest form of torture, and I fear it more than I fear my bodily demise.

I anxiously await your thoughts. What do you truly fear in this life?

That there's nothing besides this earth, that we get one life and that's it.
That scares me.

I fear having regrets, and I fear that I will lose someone without them knowing how much I care or the way in which I feel about them. Its a singular fear as you may have figured out.

Nothing else really scares me. Not even death itself.

I have this weird fear of swimming in water with creatures in it, yet I work in the aquatic department at my job handling animals which is weird. I also have a strange fear of choking on food.

I fear... being too afraid to live life to its fullest. To regret not enjoying life more at the very end. I don't want that. Dear god, I don't want that.

I don't fear death, but I fear to get old and slowly become worse and worse, until one day I can't remember my kids and grandchildren. When that happens, shoot me.

Nothing. I'm fearless.

It's probably due to ignorance more than anything else.

Definitely insanity.

I do fear not being able to fully be fulfilled in life as well. Not being able to have regrets, hurt feelings, and all the less longed for aspects of life (ones that I believe are essential to living life). The fear of being shielded by myself and others from these commonly assumed 'negative' emotions and experiences.

Fear can definatly be used as an effective weapon. You just have to know what it is that they fear. What I fear, definatly not death, I embrace death. but if I fear anything it's that someone I know and care about will be hurt, not just someone in general, but someone specifically.

Tangible things I fear are sharp objects (at least when other people are holding them) and heights. My more .. emotional fear is losing or not being able to help my loved ones.

That after uni I'll be unable to find a decent job (or any job - I'm so crap at jobhunting...) and eek out a pathetic unimportant existence maybe on the dole in a fuckin' scabby council flat, alone.

But, that won't necessarily happen, so I'm not that afraid, yet.

Other than that, heights and plane travel.

i'm probably talking to some devout atheist here, but i'll take the chance anyways. lucky for u, ur fear is not reality. I'm presuming u've heard of Jesus Christ before right? if so, u know the story, and it would seem to make sense, even from an atheist point of view, to believe, just in case. if u've never heard of Him, email me. God bless

altho i agree with u, i'd like to clarify for all concerned that hell is really nothing but eternal seperation from God. that might not sound so scary now, but once u die, u will realize just how horrible that is. for example, without God there to help u, as He helps all of us in this life, Lucifer can do anything he wants to u...

My greatest fear is solitary confinement.

I cannot stand it when I communicate with people, especially women, and they do not communicate back. I know the problem is mostly my approach, but through this process I am learning that the thing I fear worse than violent death would most definitely be solitary confinement.

My only real fear is death, but of course I fear things which could cause my death, like loaded guns in my mouth or knives at my throat. I suppose I fear permanent disability or mutilation as well, but not to the same degree that I fear death. I would become disabled in order to avoid death.
