They can interbreed freely with the species of Dogs, therefore they are dogs.

As is Michael Eisner.

I'm the one in the poll who can't follow instructions...can you guess which one I voted for...

Wow thats damn silly.

So...you know how the dad in Calvin & Hobbes would just make crap up when Calvin asked? My dad did that too, so sometimes there are things I think are real and then I have to ask, "Who told me that? Oh yeah, dad...crap-I better check..." So, my dad once told me about an attempt to race cheetahs that didn't work out becuase a cheetah won't chase anything it can't catch.

In retrospect that doesn't make any damn sense, especially since cheetahs are endangered, but for an 8 year old it made a cool impression.

On topic-thats just damn silly. What the article didn't state, and I wonder, is what is it they can do to the dogs that they can't if they actually admit they are dogs...?

Two years after the Parimutuel Racing Act was passed in Kansas, the law protecting pets in the state was changed to exclude greyhounds from the designation of dog.

Why on earth didn't they just write in an exception - "all dogs except working dogs shall fall under pet protection laws" and provide a different statute for the protection of working animals.

(Of course this is Kansas, where evolution isn't taught. Maybe they just don't understand taxonomy?)

I think you just put your finger on the problem...
