Still Can't Say Sorry

One of the two American pilots who killed four Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan claims he is suffering from depression. Not highly unlikely,. However, whining to the media about it while still refusing to acknowledge blame or apologize to the families doesn't evoke any particular sympathy in my mind.
Just another reason why Canada is tentative in linking up with US foces.

At least the other pilot had the backbone to admit that he did something wrong- this guy is just about as arrogant as a human being can be.

A man after my own heart. :)

Seriously, I try to avoid saying 'sorry' as much as possible. Why say you are sorry if you think you did nothing wrong?

You shouldn't say you're sorry at a traffic accident (same as admitting guilt), even if someone got killed and it was your fault.

Wow, I'm exactly the oppisite. I say sorry if I cut in front of people walking down the hall by accident. Can't imagine what I'd do in a car accident.
Even if I was't like that though, I'd still say sorry. Taking an allies life would probally depress just about anyone.

He could at least say - I am sorry that I was involved in the accident that took your loved ones lives. I didn't do it on purpose and mourn their loss.

I believe this has to do with America's litigous society. People are advised by counsel not to apologize as that indicates liability.

One may feel terrible and want like hell to say "I'm sorry", but if to admit liability leaves you open to a ruinous lawsuit, then other people, namely your family, are in jeopardy.

Unfortunately, his attorney may be insisting that he not apologize since an apology might imply guilt. Sigh.
