What uniform do your ground forces wear now? No more "redcoats" I assume, seeing as how a big black X right over your heart was just stupid. Along with the wigs. I know you have camo, etc., but I'm referring to dress blues, etc.

Name the three primary armaments of the SA-80 family (I know the answer, I'm testing).

I'll answer my own question: They are the L85A2 - more commonly known as the SA-80 Assualt rifle. The L86A2 LSW is the light machine gun, and the L96A1 is the 7.62 sniper rifle. The first two are 5.56 calibre

Following on from that: was the intimidatory nature of the way telescopic sights are used to 'check out' people by aiming your rifle at their heads/bodies and viewing through the sights intentional or accidental?

It's convinient, and easy. Unlike Americans, British troops are generally good at rifle drill, and less likely to shoot innocents / friendlies. I'm saying no more on this, since I remember arguing with you before, and can't be arsed to do it again.

i wouldnt say they were piss poor. the only gun that deserves that title is the sten and the beretta

No, they are piss poor. The magazines fall out, the sight contains radon gas which can be harmful if inhaled, reall useful in a situation where it could get damaged, it jams, and is generally pants. At least the sten worked.

The L85 is the best range rifle in the world. However, it's field performance is lacklustre.

The training rifle is single shot, so jams are infrequent. However, we've found that with the bolt locked back, if we slame the butt plate fairly hard against a table, it releases the bolt! Scary

Hey now, the SA 80 is better then it was. It had it's teething problems, but is generally a lot more reliable now.

And if you are American and criticizing the SA 80, remember that we still havn't stopped laughing at the initial deployment of the M16-A1 in Vietnam.

The SA80 is a good rifle with some reliability issues that have been mostly resolved.

Really, hmm? So you laugh because a gun we used about 40 years ago blew chunks? And do you still laugh when you see us toting an M-4 carbine? Hmm? Or maybe you'd like to smirk at a brand new M16A4? Yes, that's right, laugh at how your guns TODAY suck as much as the ones we used in Vietnam. Laugh it up. Go on.

Well, I'd like to get your opinions on some of the rifles I own. I'm a little older than you fellows, but my weapons are privately owned rather than being given to me for training by the military. I have an SKS assault rifle, an AK-47, and an M-4 Carbine. Lots of family in the military you see. Thank God I'm legally allowed to have them now. Shooting them is still a problem of course....

Anyways, what are your opinions on these rifles?

LOL someone had taken the pin out of the SKS when I got it to prevent full-auto use. i fixed that though. Although I honestly prefer a good Colt .45 for close work, for distance shooting (100 meters or more, up to 600) I like the M-4. The SKS has tremendous power, enough to punch through most bullet-proof vests. In fact, in the states, they are now becoming infamous for attacks on police.

The AK-47 is good, but for a good rifle you ought to try out my M82A1. Kicks like a 12 gauge, but ho-ly shit.
